I either sing random harmonies to things, raise or lower octaves, add riffs, or sing like Ethel Merman....
Just your typical Musical Theatre person! lol
haha, pandajen I'd give anything to hear Colm cover James Blunt songs. Imagine: "Yah Beautifoe-oh!"
I too enjoy singing songs the way Ethel Merman would...
That and (this is SO bizarre, but I live alone so whatever) I sometimes make up choreography to entire musicals and do it in my living room as though it's the ballet version of whatever show. Yeah....I don't know why I admitted that.
At drama rehearsal the other day, my friend and I made up a version of Over the Rainbow called Over the Lightboard. Haha, it was like, a five-hour rehearsal, and we were getting pretty loopy.
LOL LifeoftheParty2-I think everyone would be lying if they said they hadn't done the same thing at some point!
My roommate and I act out entire shows as a two woman show. Recently we did Les Mis. It was great...I used my lofted bed as a bridge for Javert's suicide. When we did wicked we put wings from a Halloween costume on my stuffed money and went at it.
Singing like the Merm is always fun
Also Liza...
Oh and sometimes I like to add in little riffs/runs to songs where they fit appropriately. Especially with the style/feel/lyrics of the song.
Also messing around with different octaves and key changes.
I like imitating Marla Mindelle's rendition of "Colors of the Wind."

I'm always being overly precious in changing melodies, tempos, lyrics, and vocal styles with whatever song is stuck in my head. The only thing I can specifically think of was how I've randomly been singing Beauty and the Beast in Michael Cerveris voice lately.

For some perverted reason, this is what happens to One Night in Bangkok:
"It's a drag/It's a bore/It's really such a pity/You'll be lookin' at the board/Not lookin' at my titties."

I like to go in and out of the Cher or Carol Channing voice. This is highly effective in tense situations, to help ease said tensions.
And whomever said they had a boyfriend who liked Nirvana during "hand holding"...that's waaaaaaay better than one who like reggae
