As much as I love Reefer Madness, it is very strange, especially Alan Cumming in the beginning.
and Cats is a bit strange as well.

Dance with Me in 1975. It was supposed to be avant garde, but it was just plain awful.
It made In My Life seem like a fabulous production of Sondheim's finest work. (Only had to go back 20 years to find something worse than In My Life.)

Posted: 3/25/06 at 10:31pmI'm surprised no one said Pippin yet. I saw the abridged video version, but it was still very weird and it took me a few days to actually get interested in it, and now, I'm playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and banjo for my high school production of it.

Posted: 3/25/06 at 10:36pmNo, it is strange, but in a good way. Mostly the ending is very strange.

I can't come up with an entry in this one... partly because theater itself is weird. And I mean that as praise.
Generally, I feel that most good productions are weird in some way or other. If a production has no weirdness, then it's probably too conventional for me to remember.

Posted: 3/26/06 at 2:38amI recently did a show at my high school that was a series of short plays by David Ives entitled "All in the Timing". Most of them were pretty funny, but, as always, I got stuck in this weird one called "Phillip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread". It was the most deranged piece of theatre that I've ever been a part of. People keep trying to convince me it was just artistic or existential, but I was unimpressed. That, or Shockheaded Peter (which I saw when I was like 10 at the New Victory Theater). THAT was weird...

To Miss P
In My life was totally enjoyable in our humble opinion. It is a guilty pleasure & my wife & I are glad we saw it
Re NINE, loved the show which made it (8 1/2) somewhat understandable. We tried a few times to get thru 8 1/2 the movie & never made it
