This is retarded. "They don't care about the art"?!? F*** Off. Only doing it for the money? The job of a producer on Broadway is to make money back for their investors. Therefor they are very successful at what a producer is supposed to do. Let me just say that had you invested $10,000 in CHICAGO when it opened, you would now be a millionaire...not even kidding. I think people who knock theatre professionals with the pure intent to spread "DIRT" should have their identities revealed and we should be able to talk all about them.
I worked for them for 2 years for no money and still have all the respect for them in the world. I just wish the rest of you could see them work day to day and not base your ideas about them on caricatures people, like Michael Riedel, create for fun.

"I worked for them for 2 years for no money"
I assume you were an intern. They pay very competitively and provide full benefits - at least they did when I was there, and as they're much more successful now than they were then, I can't imagine that's changed.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:45pmI'd like to hear just ONE specific example of all the Dirt-talkers out there...if you got a story, spill it, otherwise, it's just gossip and opinions, no real facts.
#55re: Weissler's DIRT
Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:53pmLD, there are plenty of true stories, but I personally wouldn't post them on a public message board. It's just inappropriate.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:02pmPeople keep saying what horrible people they are, I'd just like to hear WHY or HOW, that's all...

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:03pmYou can see from these posts that some of us here have had personal dealings with them. We've worked for them. So just trust us.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:09pmNo disrespect Rath, but I'm not the type to just "trust" anyone when it comes to this sort of thing--though I'm sure you have reasons for your image of them, I have no reason to doubt mine.
#59re: Weissler's DIRT
Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:11pmMy reasons are that I've seen them first hand. I was in their office for two years. I think that's pretty solid.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:29pmI once saw Fran Weissler destroy a small town in one fiery breath. Don't mess with Frannie.
#62re: Weissler's DIRT
Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:37pmso you have a vested interest in saying nice things since you worked for them huh?

No hatred here. Though, I do want my money back for BUSKER ALLEY. It is just fun to make fun of them. They are theatre charcters with obvivous formula of revial + stunt casting = success. Thats all.
If Merrick were alive, we'd make fun of him. I don't think anyone here would hesitate, if offered, a chance to swap bank accounts and theatrical clout.
Theatre professionals need ribbing from from fans. It helps them from taking themselves to seriously and then producing crappy work. Thats all.
