oo this is fun!!
gotta post on the first thread.
Well, like everyone else I really have nothing to say here but I want to be on this thread.
I plan to print it and have it immortalized in stone.
Wow, the first thread.

Glad to see this bumped up too. I remember my 1st post, I think it had something to do with a thread for posters from the old broadwayworld site:
"I think I'm gonna like it here" (a quote from Annie)
I have indeed!
Thanks for making such a fantastic site!
Yeah, it goes without saying, but I couldn't resist.
Hooray! I too posted on the first thread! Updated On: 2/11/07 at 06:58 PM
I even double posted on the first thread! Updated On: 2/11/07 at 06:58 PM

I dunno, first thread, title song from what is widely considered the first musical theatre piece, seems appropriate, no?

Then shouldn't we be singing Porgy and Bess?

Now THAT'S historic.

Eh, pick your poison. Porgy and Bess, Show Boat, Oklahoma!? They all have a case to be made.
And is it just me, or do I see some bryan threads regaurding cast recordings for Urban Cowboy and Dance of the Vampires on that ancient site???

I joined only a day or two after this thread.... man, Ive been around here a long time. Doesn't feel like it's been that long, that's for sure!
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Wow. Like just about everyone else, I really have nothing constructive to add, but felt the need to post. Never would have found this on my own . . . my computer and the search button just don't get along that well!

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the "off-topic" Message Board?
p.s. Rob?
I'm a part of BWW history!
The first time I opened this thread, I just thought it was a random new thread.
As am I, Raviolisun!
Oooh... I feel so important!
I feel so... distinguished.

This is fun.
I've been lurking here so long that I feel obligated to post on the first thread.
Broadway.com closed down their message board in early May 2003. Although they took down the link from their website, I had the URL of the board bookmarked so those who had it on their favorites were still able to use it. Broadway.com administration created a thread to tell us the board was going to be deleted because of how immature we were and the arguments that kept taking place.
Rob came over and created a post saying he created a new Broadway website and there was a message boards over there. So I clicked on his link, joined, and have never again had a need to visit Broadway.com except for the occasional video clip.
Broadway.com's biggest mistake was closing their message boards. I am sure they lost a LOT of traffic due to it. BWW now has the immature users and arguments that take place. What Broadway.com failed to realize was that "online drama" happens anywhere. There is no utopia. Not everyone is in harmony. Broadway has problems, people have problems, and now we discuss these problems (and blessings, too) at BroadwayWorld.com. Without the BroadwayWorld.com community and Broadway.com closing their board, it may very well be that BWW would have disappeared into obscurity and Broadway.com remained dominant.
Broadway.com's audience is now mainly naive tourists looking to see what the heck Broadway shows are. Very seldom do they have exclusive news. Occasionally there will be a video clip there (in which I find out about from the BWW boards) that I'll go watch, but that's it. People go to BWW.com (and Talkin Broadway) for their Broadway dish.
Kudos to Rob and Craig and the gang for creating a wonderful enviornment for the online theatre community. You continue to improve this already marvelous website.

Well done, Capn. You've made history as the first person to say something substantial on the 1st thread!
I had to do it...so when I'm an old man I can tell grandchildren I posted on BWW's first post, and wasted my life on the site.
I had been posting on ATC since its inception a decade ago, but decided to check out BWW after a friend of mine told me she was going to be writing reviews for the site.
I joined BWW back during its original month of operation in May '03, but didn't post anything and went back over to ATC. Since BWW was just starting out, the board didn't seem to be as active as ATC.
I decided to check out BWW about a year later and was surprised to see how much it had evolved! The message board was thriving and, unlike ATC, I could post my thought in any number of meaningless polls! I have been hooked on BWW ever since and have rarely gone back to ATC.
I prefer the way BWW has everything set up. The search feature (no matter how many flaws it has) is a GREAT option, and it is nice that once threads roll off the main page they don't fall into oblivion. If I want to find out what people were saying about such-and-such a show back in 2004 -- all I have to do is search for it!
I second Capn's kudos to Rob and Craig for a great site!
