#25West Side Story - most recent revival
Posted: 10/14/13 at 2:24pmPrevious West Side Story revivals hewed closely to the original Jerome Robbins staging. This last WSS was directed by Arthur Laurents in an attempt to claim the show for himself, so he made it as different from Robbins as possible. He couldn't arrange for new choreography, either contractually or because that would have created a scandal. But using Spanish, making quirky directorial choices, and so on were all part of the plan to invent an Arthur Laurents West Side Story. And Laurents was a writer, not a director. It's not the cast's fault that the production lacked resonance.

Posted: 10/23/13 at 1:58pmIis it really necessay for people to complain about previous threads on the same or similar topics? SO WHAT! If one only dips into the board occasionally (and are not hovering daily) who the hell wants to dig and backtrack to find out. If you don't like the topic - don't look.

It's proper discussion board ettiquette to use a search function -- particularly when you are bringing up an older topic. The idea that no one thought to discuss the topic previously is self-centered.
How is complaining about complaining any better than the complaining itself?

Or complaining about complaining about complaining...
And frankly etiquette seems a rarity here anyway.
