These are all really good ideas, I especially like both of yours Craig. I think that Burton and company are going to make an incredible movie and no doubt the preview will be just as great. I think the preview could be like the first Batman preview that Burton released for the first Batman movie to stop the negative rumors about Michael Keaton. I think that their first preview, will probably put an end to alot of the Johnny Depp hate.
I have a feeling that the first preview will probably be attached to Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, seeing that Depp is apart of both films, that would be my logical guess.
I thought a good teaser would be a voice-over of Tobias singing acapella "Not while I'm Around", in a somewhat scared/whisper-y manner, almost as if he were singing it to himself. While he's singng, little clips from the movie are shown: Sweeney getting off the ship, Mrs. Lovett retrieving Sweeney's old razors, the Judge peeping through Johanna's keyhole, the Beggar woman prowling through the streets, and eventually Sweeney slitting the throat of a customer. That last moment should come in on 'Nothing can harm you, not while I'm around..." and have that melt into the introduction of "The ballad of Sweeney Todd", with the opening vamp repeating for "Johnny Depp. Helena Bonham Carter. Alan Rickman. Sasha Baron Cohen. Sweeney Todd:The Demon barber of Fleet street. A Tim Burton Film. Attend The Tale."
"the face of a costume is unseen. hidden in shadows."
I really MUST ask...
What is the face of an unseen costume?
i love capnhook's and wickedfan's ideas!!!!
i cannot wait!!!
"What is the face of an unseen costume?"
I was thinking the same thing.....
The screen falls black, as you hear the eerie sound of faint footsteps ... They're getting louder and louder, closer and closer. Just then, an orchestral (slowed-down) version of the opening sequence is overheard, heavy on the organ, blaring through the speakers ... We cut to an aerial shot of London, as we zoom-in further and further. Fleet Street. St. Dunstan's. We have a sweeping shot of the buildings and shops ... We're then brought back to the black screen, where there is one sole light, a reflection coming from something, somewhere, in an otherwise bare room. In plain, white text: "Johnny Depp" appears, then "Helena Bonham Carter", "Alan Rickman", "Sacha Baron Cohen", "Laura Michelle Kelly" and "Anthony Head" ... The orchestral track of "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" is nearing its climax, as we return to said room, where a close-up of a hand slowly lifting a gleaming straightedge razor (resonating the aforementioned glow from earlier) is shown, and thusly, follows the clenched fist with steady razor -- slowly rising, and with a one swift, slicing motion, the screen goes black, and the track comes to an abrupt hault ...
"A Tim Burton Film" proceeds to appear, as the picture resumes. We return to a close-up of a pair of a lips who announce: "...Sit, sir, sit..." the camera pans outward, revealing the words to have been those of one, Johnny Depp (in Sweeney garb). With one sole smirk to the camera, we abruptly fade to black with "Attend the Tale... Christmas" formed via droplets of blood. That's my offering for a teaser trailer, at least. I have hopes of putting together a decent-looking trailer for my own amusement soon enough!
That is a pretty goos idea actually.
Well whatever they decide to do, I don't think it should be too slasher flick-esque. More, theatrical, and implied instead of straight up blood and screams.
I can't wait to see how it will turn out.
I'd like the end to be a series of quick of each of the main characters set to the end of A Little Priest where they go "We'll serve anyone, meaning anyone, and to anyone at all" and during the "all" just go really fast through a whole ton of clips and then play the freaky whistle-killing noise and then have one of those annoying voice-over people go "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" Or maybe not the demon barber part... depends.
For some reason, I have a feeling "Not While I'm Around" will be used in the trailer. It is the show's most "famous" song.
Wanted to bump now that there's a length trailer available as part of our top story.
I was pretty dead on...
