I was wondering what everyone's favorite Musical/Play is for the following elements.
Music:
Singing:
Acting:
Choreography:
Technical:
Plot:
Warning: Possible Spoilers!!
Music: School of Rock. I really like rock music out of all genres.
Singing: School of Rock. While not the best in terms of singing, the kids were very impressive and it was unique to have a mostly kids cast.
Acting: The Play That Goes Wrong. Extremely funny and we have good actors, pretending to be horrible actors. Even the "stage manager" was an actor.
Choreography: Lion King. Very unique way of having everyone move. Fighting shown as dancing. Every dancer looked very light on their feet and almost gravity defying.
Technical: Spider Man. While not the best show, the automated fly was amazing. The lights and moving panels also really helped it show as a comic book.
Plot: The Play That Goes Wrong. This play was the funniest I have seen. There was never a serious moment or time when things went right. From set collapsibg, to actors getting knocked unconcious, to the manly stage manager being forced into the female's part....

Music: Hairspray. It’s so infectious and uplifting. It’s my go-to when I need a pick-me-up.
Singing: The Color Purple. Cynthia Erivo. That is all.
Acting: Cabaret (Alan Cumming/Emma Stone). There’s a reason why she a fast-rising Star and he’s a thing of legend. It’s this.
Choreography: Something Rotten, solely for the purpose of the staging of “A Musical”
Technical: Spongebob Squarepants. I never focus on shows that are too technical because it often obscured the story or music (in my experience), but this was some genius ingenuity.
Plot: Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It isn’t much of a plot, but rather a beautiful commentary on identity and the search for love.

To the OP: I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but I'm curious about how much theater you get to, as I can imagine arriving at your choices only if I was working with an extremely small sample size.

Well I am only able to go to about 3 a year. So on Broadway I have seen about 10 shows. I have seen a few on Tour also, but when I was younger so I don't remember much.
I will also admit I am not a big fan of watching plays/musicals unless it is rock music, or comedy. This also transfers to movies and TV. I much rather prefer to work backstage. I have probably worked over 30 musicals and plays so far in Indiana. Like Hunchback of Notre Dame, Grease, Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof, etc. However in this post I am only focused on things on Broadway, so way less to choose from.
As a person who also prefers to play music(violin, piano, guitar) over listening to it, I get a little bored with music in a lot of shows. For acting, well I don't act at all and I am not the best at recognizing good acting due to Asberger's. When I go to shows I focus mostly on technical stuff. As a person who does fly a lot, I love shows with fly, especially above the audience. I also love unusual technical stuff like sets falling apart.
If you wish I can list what I have seen on Broadway though.
