What Male Broadway Star Would You Like To Hear Sing A Song Made Famous By A Woman?
#0What Male Broadway Star Would You Like To Hear Sing A Song Made Famous By A Woman?
Posted: 5/9/06 at 12:34amHi. This was the only original question I could think of on short notice. Anyway, I have some favorite Broadway diva songs: "Memory", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", "As If We Never Said Goodbye", to name a few. Has there ever been a show/concert where male singers perform those beloved Broadway standards? I personally would love to hear John Barrowman sing "As If We Never Said Goodbye" (from "Sunset Boulevard"). I would buy such a recording. Any thoughts? What male singer would you love to hear interpret a song made famous by a woman? No verbal arrows please. from Roman in Austin, Texas... the official Patti LuPone FANatic

I second Bea Arthur!
Euan Morton sang "As Long As He Needs Me" at one of his concerts. And Marty Thomas always sings "Defying Gravity" in the original key.

Amen to that!
Broadway leading men dont get their solo albums as frequently as the divas and also rans. This is one actor I would kill to have a solid broadway album. His tone is so rich and vibrant.
*still miffed they didnt record Baby at Papermill, it was gorgeous grrr!*

This puzzled me also. Are certain favorites encouraged to post things? Are some of these postings "planted" by performers or their agents?

Posted: 5/9/06 at 11:19amIt is a nice pipe dream to imagine what it would be like to hear Bea Arthur (one of my favorite male singers) sing Bosom Buddies from Mame. If only there were some way to make that happen. Oh well. While we're dreaming, I'd also like to hear Lucille Ball's skeleton sing "It's Today!"
