I've only done 4 high school shows.... what a miserable experience some of those were (are you listening Little Shop and Man Who Came to Dinner?). I've given up on their shows. Chose 'YAGMCB' over my high school's 'H2$'.... that was a no-brainer! Those ones were:
-You Can't Take It With You (Ed Carmichael) -Little Shop of Horrors (Chorus.... I totally got screwed out of Seymour! ... bad story.) -The Man Who Came to Dinner (Sheridan Whiteside) -Bye Bye Birdie (Mr. MacAfee)
The rest of my credits are from theaters all over my area:
-Anyone Can Whistle (John, u/s Magruder) -You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Charlie Brown) -Brighton Beach Memoirs (Eugene) -Streetcar Named Desire (Young Collector) -Jesus Christ Superstar (Apostle) -The Miracle Worker (James Keller) -Oliver! (Charlie Bates, u/s Artful Dodger) -Wind in the Willows (Mr. Toad) -Peter Pan (twice! John Darling... I got to fly!; Tootles) -Wizard of Oz (twice also! Cowardly Lion; Flying Monkey... only did it cause I wanted to fly again! lol)
... these are just a handfull. I am so thankful that at 17 I have been lucky enough to have these theatrical experiences. Theater is my passion and my life! To all the people that have only been in high school shows, this is my advice: get out there and get involved in real theater. I tell my friends this all the time. It makes me crazy when high school kids decide they want to be theater majors in college after only having experienced a few high school shows! High school shows can be a lot of fun... but go out and gain the experiences!
sorry for the rant... I don't know where that came from. Its 2am and Ive had shows all weekend..... I think I need sleep. lol
