Now, I'm used to Broadway jacking up the prices around the holiday season but I was just looking at Wicked tickets for December and they have them up to $145! I'm shocked, even with the show being Wicked and overcharging to begin with!

Oy, what is this world coming to?

When the Wicked tour came to my hometown, it was like $150 for orchestra. Usually orchestra for tours around there costs $60.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

"Oy, what is this world coming to?"

A recession?

Honestly, if they can get that price, then good for them! Too bad they can't share those profits with other shows like the SIMON plays and keep it open...

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I paid that price for the Shrek closing performance because they didn't offer discount tickets, but I'm okay forking that kind of money over once in a while.

I believe Billy Elliot holiday tickets are 145-150$ as well, and may even stay that way.

The top price for the Wicked tour here in Boston a couple of years ago was $130. Even The Lion King which is stopping here in February doesnt have an orchestra ticket price of over $100. It doesnt surprise me.

Shrek's current discount offer is only good until November 8, but I'm sure they'll release another discount code for the remaining two months of performances with a catchy "Final 8 Weeks" to entice theatergoers.

I've paid $150 for a show during the holiday season in the past. This is nothing new.

I believe the most I paid this time last year was $130 and I saw Wicked, Billy Elliot, 13, and Shrek as well as a few others.

If you think that's offensive, Jersey Boys has designed their tour pricing schedule to be like purchasing airline seats -- buy earlier and get a better price. They even put a ticker indicating their average ticket price at being over $100.

So are Night Music's prices relatively inline with other shows for the 'holiday period'?

Perhaps they will reduce afterwards (can you book afterwards now?)
