Posted: 11/4/03 at 1:39pmI saw it last night and the only really good thing about it is Raul Esparza. Rosie O'Donnell is out of her mind if she thinks that having her name attached to this show is going to make it a hit.

Well.... AS A LESBIAN, I will not go see TABOO.
Now, AS A LESBIAN, I would appreciate it if some one could pass me that salt. AS A LESBIAN, I like salty french fries... and AS A LESBIAN, I would like to eat them now.

Posted: 11/4/03 at 1:49pmI will not see Taboo and that has nothing to do with the I feel I about Rosie. It just doesn't sound like anything that would interest me. If it did, I would see it regardless of what i think about her.

Posted: 11/4/03 at 1:51pmi'll go see it again once it opens so that i can see if they made the changes that they need to to make it work. and yes, i could depend on the kindness of strangers to tell me that news, but i just prefer to see it myself. i have odd tastes and who knows if they might make some miniscule change that would make all the difference for me *cough, cough, gratuitous ensemble nudity, cough*

Saw Taboo....needs some work on the structure. The actor playing Boy George is great and so is Raul. And it's a treat to see the real George himself....but if you want to see it ...umm...see it soon, if you know what i mean....

I find it ironic you are all bashing Rosie for having opinions. By that standard, you are all horrible people and no one should support anything you attempt just based on the fact you have expressed your opinions.
Rosie has done more for New York actors and actresses than all of you combined- she featured Broadway on her show and helped pump thousands of dollars into theatre box offices. What have YOU done?
If you don't like her because she's a lesbian- get over it. If you don't like the fact she literally puts her money where her mouth is- go produce your own shows and DO please let us know when they are so we can write disheartening, personal attacks on you and your shows before they even start. Because you know, maybe I won't like it. And then I can attempt to share my knowledge and try to feel more powerful by writing bitchy, distorted posts ANONYMOUSLY.
You want to have an opinion? Great! What would be even better would be if you had the courage to make your real identity known- to put YOUR self-esteem on the line to be ridiculed, criticized and attacked because people have nothing better to do.
I am not revealing MY name yet....but rest assured I will. And I doubt you will have the guts to do the same Al, Namo, Dolly, et al.

Posted: 11/5/03 at 7:49pmWhoa! What have we ever done for the theatre community?! Half of the theatre community is the fans! Without us, rushing and SROing and buying souviners, there wouldn't be a "theatre community". You picked the wrong board to bash, because we got some people on here who will let their claws fly!

Oh, Pooper, who bashed anyone for having an opinion? I just wonder why thin skinned people people come to message boards and then feel the need to post the same old tired retorts. Blah, blah, blah. Heard and read all the same "party" lines before. Can't someone come up with new material?

I hope Taboo succeeds.
Nothing to do with anything except the fact that if it doesn't succeed then there'll be just that much more reason why we're not ever going to get anything but musical-ized old movies on Broadway. Producers, Hairspray, Millie, enough already.

Posted: 11/5/03 at 8:08pmDollypoop, your post is full of ...well... POOP! What are you talking about? I was posting here and on the old Broadway.com, as were Namo,Dolly "et al", long before Rosie decided to bring Taboo to Broadway. When I want to "reveal my identity", I'll get Craig to run a website for me and have my own message board. For the record, my name is Al.

Posted: 11/5/03 at 8:14pmDollypoop? Somewhere the Double Identity Red Flag just popped up. Just so you know, I was the one who wrote a very long defense of Rosie two days ago. So follow the narrative through lines before you go casting aspersions. Criticizing anonymous posting tells us ALL where you've come from and it's unseemly.

Posted: 11/5/03 at 8:25pmAlso poop, Namo is right. You should really follow the various threads more carefully. I started a thread about how shocked and surprised I was at the vitriole hurled at Rosie at this time. I guess you skipped over that one too.

Posted: 11/6/03 at 3:33amRosie must feel horrible about all this. She really believes in the show then gets dogged by actors, stars, media, message boards, etc. Man, she may have made some mistakes and brought some of this on her self but it just seems a shame. She put up all the money and supported Bgeorge's dream. I just will make a wish for her to pull it through.

Not only follow the threads but read the posts more carefully. Once again, I feel the need to point out that no post that I have read on this board has expressed a dislike of Rosie because of the fact that she is an out lesbian. I may have missed some remarks that were made but, I haven't seen anything blatant.
It is just conjecture that the feelings toward her stem from some form of homophobia. I think it more likely that people do not like her attitude. Hey, if Ellen Degeneres was backing a show does anyone think there would be this kind of backlash toward her? Probably not because she is not known as being rude and hurtful to people. It's all about the behavior not the sexual orientation. Her attitude, however should not influence how people look at the show. It should succeed or fail on it's own.
I do not like Rosie and have always said that. My choice not to see Taboo is based on the subject matter not being of interest to me. If it turns out to be a great show, it deserves to succeed.
One last thing, if you take on multiple identities on thsi board, plaese try to be original and not use a variation of a screen name already used by an established member. if what you have to say is worth reading, you shouldn't need to trick people by doing something like that. I started reading the post thinking it was from the original DP until I realized the writing was missing a certain level of intelligence. Doing something like that just shows that your opions cannot stand on their own.
