Posted: 6/24/05 at 10:01amAs someone who is old enough to have actually done the frug (and the watusi!) in the 60's, it's a graceless, jerking-movement dance. Good aerobic activity, though. I'm embarrassed when I look at it now.

Oh My! Now there's a dance I haven't thought of in years...yes, I do remember it.
Right along with The Pony, the Mashed Potato and the Stroll....and let's not forget the Peppermint Twist and Chubby Checker :)

I may be wrong ( I didn't see the link), but isn't it Frugue?
*edit* Just checked. Hmmm, Guess I've been calling it Frugue all these years. It sounds better than "Frug"

It's written FRUG. It's pronounced FROOG.
At least that's how Fosse pronounced it when he spoke of it.

If it's pronounced "Froog", then it should be "Frugue"...I'll have to do a check...
*Just did a check online and it looks like I'm not the only one who spells it "Frugue"
Guess it could be spelled either or...

Justice,
I checked all of the different cast recordings of "Charity" I own and on all of them the word is spelled "Frug".

Posted: 6/25/05 at 2:09pmNot to be confused with "fugue," which is a psychiatric, amnesia-like disorder during which a person my change identities and move locations without being fully aware of their behavior. But sometimes that happens to you when you're really involved with doing the Frug.
