Did Larson figure that there are 525,600 minutes, but a moment is longer than a minute? Would that cause him to believe that there are only 525,000 moments that are so dear? Or perhaps Larson thought that only 525,000 minutes of the 525,600 were dear and the other 600 were pure and utter crap?
I think there are bigger issues in Rent. Like why does everyone think Angel is so great, when he is responsible for Evita's death?

We all have friends who have done stupid things... and we still love them. Aside from that, they all hate Benny so to them, it's no big deal. Maybe they wouldn't allow Angel to dog sit for them, but since none of the other characters have pets (that we know of), it's safe. lol

I should let this die, but for whatever reason....... He was only paid to play his drum, technically. True, he knew the dog might "bark itself to death". If someone said to me, "here's some cash, please play your drum so my neighbor's dog will commit suicide", my first thought would be - that's not gonna happen, but if you wanna give me money to beat a pickle drum, I'll do it! Gotham... are you really bothered by Angel's choice to participate in the neighbor's scheme??

Angel caused a death, and so he is the one who dies in the show. I wonder if Larson intended that or it just happened? Karma or coincidence?

Um, he probably did that so he could fit the numbers in the line to make the song flow better...singing "525,600 minutes, 525,600 moments so dear" can be a mouthful.
