I don't want to wish illness on anybody, but given the circumstances, wouldn't it be kinda funny if Donna Murphy legitimately called in sick for Sunday night's performance for the Republican delegates and the people urging the actors to call in sick claimed this as some great victory? Linda Muggleston (sp?) would go on.

Of course Linda would go on, but it would be "victory" in that the RNC wouldn't see the "star" and yet it would a "legit" absence. Serendipity?
Well, sure. But it might be funny if people who don't know of Murphy's absentee record to misinterpret her absense as a Tony-winning Broadway star making a political statement.
Or - call me crazy - the world may end as we know it.
the show couldnt get any worse, so i wouldnt worry about it.

I would hope that those calling for the "strike" would know enough about Broadway to know that there were other reasons she would be absent and not claim victory on such a dubious event. I think it's a bad idea anyway. I think Broadway should go out there and knock them off their feet. Give them the best possible show they could ever imainge. Might convince some tight asses arts education is worth something. :)

i think that would be so funny. i would pee on my own leg laughing if that happened.
At least the title being "what if" instead of "what will happen when" should appease jrb_actor a little bit, I suppose.
When Donna calls in sick on Sunday, people unfamiliar with her attendance record will perceive it as a bold statement of her political convictions. Her absence will be celebrated as a heroic and powerful plea for change, and she will be embraced by the people as she inadvertently leads Kerry to victory through the pure force of her boycott. Overnight darling of the Kerry campaign, Donna will receive offers to perform at the Inauguration Ceremony as well as serve as the brand new symbol of the Democratic Party. Her career as an activist and political icon will come to an abrupt end on Inauguration Day when, with all of Washinton DC awaiting their star, Linda Muggleston walks out with a note from Donna's doctor.

that was priceless, matt.
Does anyone even know if she is a Democrat or Republican??

pop--nah it makes me laugh.
But, I agree that people should do their job--and show Republicans what they aren't supporting in this country and in schools.

Even though it doesn't matter...Donna is definitely not a Republican!
Yes, it does matter, because if she's a Republican, why would she call out sick?
well my guess is the playbills will just have a note reading the following
.............................ATTENTION
.......................REPUBLICAN DELEGATES
...........................Donna Murphy
....................is not out because of you
...............she just doesn't show up a whole lot
sorry for the dots i can't remember how to center
