I remember my mom taking me to see You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown...the touring company that came to Cleveland. Snoopy's "Bring on the hamburg, bring on the bun..." is imprinted permanently in my memory. It set off at least a decade of seeking Snoopy paraphanalia....pillows, nightshirts, Pez dispensers....

When I was growing up here on Long Island, our home was very close to a summer theater--which really was a converted barn. There was no air conditioning in those days. Throughout the summer I heard much of the performances as they wafted through the open doors and into the night air. I pestered my parents to take me to a show and finally my mother took me to see a comedy called THE GOLDEN FLEECING (the movie was re-titled THE HONEYMOON MACHINE). I thought it was exceptional. Many years later, when I was directing high school plays, I chose THE GOLDEN FLEECING and realized it was a fairly lame excuse for a comedy.

Here's Love with Janice Page ( who later replaced Angela Lansbury in Mame) & Craig (Peter Gunn ) Stevens. Speaking of Peter Gunn, whatever happened to Lola ALbright who sang @ Mother's in the show?

A local theater company did the musical version of Peter Pan every year for about 8 years back in the 80's. That was the first show I saw and Peter Pan (both the musical and the straight play) has remained one of my favorite shows to see.

Hate "The King & I" . Never thought I'd hear that one. Now I have heard everything. Nothing more surprises me.

I saw "Jesus Christ Superstar" at my church when I was 4 - and I remember my grandma having to go find the guy that played Jesus to show me he really didn't die because I was extremely upset.

The first professional production I saw was "Sound of Music" with Betty Buckley when I was 5.

The Paperbag Players. I was three.
I love my parents for taking me to the theater at an early age. I could not stop singing "What came first the chicken or the egg." I was hooked at three. Updated On: 10/20/03 at 11:06 PM

A Chorus Line on Broadway. I was 4. I don't remember a whole lot... I actually didn't realize I had seen it at all till a family member reminded me, and then I realized why the Shubert had always felt so familiar whenever I saw Chicago there.

The very very first one? Hmmmm....

I remember going BACKSTAGE at "The Wizard Of Oz", as performed by the Junior Women's Club of Champaign, IL. My mother was a member. I thought I was actually meeting Dorothy, etc.

But, the first actual PERFORMANCE I remember sitting through was CAROUSEL, as performed by the Music Dept. of Hartsville, SC, High School.

And yes, I still love CAROUSEL. What a score.

"It's a Bird, it's a Plane, It's SUPERMAN!" I think I was 6.
I remember nothing about it except for the fact that I was bored silly.

And to think, my parents could have taken me to see MAME.

My 4th grade teacher did community musical theater in her spare time so she would perform for us at very random moments during class :c) She ended up taking us to her favorite musical EVER! "The Music Man" Didn't much like it then and when I watch it now I really want to puke.

But hey...it's what started my fascination with musicals so I guess it's not all bad :cP

Very first Broadway show: Phantom of the Opera, 2 years ago!

I've seen other shows before.. like Annie but those shows were played in local theatres. I'm not totally sure of what my first show was.. I think it was Annie. =-)
