"They should have never introduced the ridiculous devil/red shoe idea into the mix if this was going to be a dance show. How 80's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I'm sorry, but what on earth do the devil and red shoes have to do with the 80s? Was that a Eurythmics music video I missed? And given the fact that the book is an adaptation of The Red Shoes, how could it NOT be a dance show? That post makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Posted: 4/28/06 at 2:09pmI think critics will eat this show alive. The idea of adapting The Red Shoes was a poor, misguided effort from the start. If this show has an audience, it will be dancers and dance lovers, who either seem to love that movie (and won't want to see it messed with) or hatefully dismiss it from the get go. And Earth, Wind, and Fire haven't been a relevant group in 20 years. No matter how good the dancers are (apparently they're great but the choreography itself is poor) no one wants to see this.

I doubt the reviews will be positivie--this show has a huge bullseye on it: jukebox musical, high concept,
dancer/actors...things critics love to pounce on--who can blame them? Scathing reviews are MUCH more fun to write than mixed or positive ones, unless of course Miss Brantley LOVES the show. Which is possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Posted: 4/29/06 at 1:31amHorrendous reviews. Given that I saw it in DC, I cannot speak for the possible changes to the book/staging since its move to NYC. In any event, this was among the worst things that I've seen in the last five years - a complete and total amateur mess from a group of very extraordinary artists and a major disappointment!

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

Please forgive me, but when I read comment like those of EffieWhite, even if I agree with some of the sentiment, it really reminds me of a whole lot of "Theater" students that never create but sit back and throw darts.
I bet when he sings happy birthday at Fridays he wants everyone in the resturaunt to quiet down and listen to his big number!
That's pretty funny NYGUY! You can't even VAGUELY imagine how wrong you are, in my case, but it was still pretty funny!

In my music history class a presentation was given on Earth Wind and Fire and in fact they had so many memebers leave and enter throughout the year that onlly one or two of the original guys are still in the group. And there have beeen points with more than the usual five members at a time. It was very odd how the group just kept changing! I dont think that could carry a story line for a show.
