With producers announcing Cherry Jones as the female costar in Faith Healer at the Booth, Festen is getting pushed farther and farther into the sidelines for this season. Playbill just demoted it to TBA sometime in 2006.
My question is, wasn't Festen up next for the Music Box? And if it doesn't make it there, what's likely to take its place? I was thinking either Sutton Foster would move in and grab it or it would be used for a Broadway transfer of The Trip to Bountiful from Signature or The Little Dog Laughed from SecondStage, two great Off-Broadway shows.
Does anyone know more about this than I do?
I wonder if Bill Kenwright has another show he can put in while Festen gets its act together.
Festen will open April 10.
Is there an actual confirmation of this anywhere?
open or begin previews, Smaxie?
Previews in March, but I don't know the start date. April 10 is the opening.
How very Bill Kenwright that it's all so close to the wire.
*tear*...I really wanted to see Drowsy Chaperone at the Music Box.
How could Festen possibly open on April 10 if they don't even have a cast yet?
Any more updates on this? It's now officially a week into February, and I just don't see how they could be putting this together by the beginning of April.
BroadwayWorld has just posted the official press release. I was off by a day. It opens April 9.
Juliana Margulies, Michael Hayden, Larry Bryggman and Ali McGraw(!) will star.
Festen
Ali McGraw? That's absolute fricking GENIUS. And Smaxie, I can't believe you were a day out with your info. I shall never believe another word you say.

Ali McGraw????????????????????
Wow. I'm speechless. Has she been floating in the same cryogenic chamber as Jill Clayburgh for the last few decades and did they both get released at the same time?
The Music Box would have been PERFECT for Drowsy Chaperone, but I'm not sure they have enough wing space or fly space for this show (or for most modern musicals, for that matter). I know a few musical shows have played there, but usually it's straight plays. My own mother was in "Miss Lonelyhearts" there, back in the late '50s.
Ha. I love how this was posted like 2 seconds after I brought this topic back up.
Looks like all the theatres are officially booked now, although what will take over for Chita remains a mystery. The Schoenfeld is a little big for The Little Dog Laughed or The Trip to Bountiful. Perhaps good for Shining City?
Can't a Festen thread be a Drowsy-free zone?

Shining City is set to preview at the Biltmore in April.
The Schoenfeld is a pretty standard-sized house for plays and smaller musicals. Little Dog Laughed, Rabbit Hole and Trip To Bountiful would all be fine for the space.
