Does anyone know what new projects Webber, Schonberg and Boubil , Menken, Sondhiem and Wildhorn may be working on next?
I thought I heard Sondhiem was bring back Bounce to NY, but I can't remember were I heard that from.
Thanks.

Webber-No new work that I know of. Probably preparing for Evita in London.
Schonberg and Boubil: The Pirate Queen
Menken: Leap of Faith and Sister Act
Sondheim: Nothing that I know of.
WIldhorn: 8,000 projects that I'm sure will suffer similar fates as his other work.

Guettel is known for being a very slow composer, so I imagine, we won't see Princess Bride for a while...

Posted: 2/20/06 at 4:15pmThat would be a crime indeed! I don't allow Sondheim to retire! Since when do Broadway composers retire? I only recall Richard Adler to have done that, okay and Harvey Schmidt... But not Sondheim, pleeeeaaaase! He should take the good example of Rodgers or Coleman...

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the pirate queen and I'm excited to hear about casting! I've read some casting rumors so I'll be excited to see if they are true or not. I'm surprised they haven't announced it yet. On their website it says it was supposed to be announced by the end of 2005.
Galilee, How do you know it'll be announced soon?

Posted: 2/20/06 at 5:26pmI can't even wait for JRB's new show "Thirteen" and this is the first I have heard of "Honeymoon in Vegas." I am also looking forward to Menken's new stuff. What about O'Keefe...last i heard was that he had composed Legally Blonde but I have only heard that they had a concert featuring some of the songs. If anyone can shed any more light on Legally Blonde or just what O'Keefe is up to that would be great. Oh and sorry, anybody know what Marx and Lopez are up to? Is it true that they might be working on a show with Trey Parker and Matt Stone for Broadway?

years ago there were talks of MASADA the musical.
i have a fairly respectable concept cd (lavish double cd with vast booklet) which has great melodies, so-so lyrics and a nice romantic LesMizy storyline (which is fine!).
every other season i hear some kind of vibe about it. does anyone know anything about it?
composer: shuki levy
original CD lyrics (i think i heard they were rewritten): Shell Danielson

Posted: 2/20/06 at 9:37pmAndrew Lloyd Webber mentioned a couple of times while promoting Phantom that he had received a book of poetry written by people in the Warsaw ghetto that he was thinking of setting to music. He did say that if he were to do this (and it didn't sound definite AT ALL) that it wouldn't be a musical, but a concert work. I also remember an article about him that was written around the time of Phantom becoming the longest running show that he was in pursuit of a novel that he thought might make a musical, but he didn't name it.

Posted: 2/20/06 at 9:47pmWildhorn is doing a musical Cyrano in London which may make it to Broadway if he can scare up enough backers ( Bialystock & Bloom anyone ? )after Dracula. I say this as a Wildhorn fan
