What's next for the Marquis Theater?

Ah TheatreFan4, always going with the sheep. Why not see it first? Don't base it off the concept album, which is designed (like most Wildhorn concept albums) to generate a pop appeal to the show (although some are the way they are in the show.

I don't think people should count this one out yet - it's tons of different styles of music, incredibly enjoyable, lots of dancing, lots of humor, witty, and doesn't try to be anything it's not. It doesn't try to be anything it's not, and if they don't tweak too much with the physical production, it's not as lavish and overdone as most Wildhorn is.

I like how people are high & noble with defending Spiderman, yet the same people pick apart Frank Wildhorn & a few other composers the same way the majority does for Spiderman.

If Wonderland really is going in, I will come up and see it. I would love to see Janet sing some of those ballads live <3

I know someone involved with management for "Priscilla" who said they are unsure of what theatre they will be going to once they come to NY after Toronto. This was told to me this week. So it going to the Marquis (or Richard Rodgers) is not a definite by any means..

Regarding Wonderland....

There is an audition notice on the Equity website for a reading in October to be followed by a full production contract back in Tampa in January. It does not say anything about a theatre or even coming to NY but I find it hard to believe they would do a bigger (contract) full production without plans to come to NY soon after that. I know the contract for the earlier production in Tampa/Houston was less than half of a production contract, monetarily speaking. We'll see.....

Priscilla only has the tourbus to fit in and almost no scenery. Doesn't need a huge stage. In London it's on at the Palace, 1400 seats and not a particularly big stage ... but maybe they'll make it "bigger" for Broadway. For who was wondering what "Priscilla" is, it's another jukebox musical, yet far better than the other ones on offer. I don't like jukebox musicals, but Priscilla is THE exception. Absolutely wonderful. Though I wonder if the Australian accent and humour will work on Broadway. For me it can only work with real aussies in it - the jokes wouldn't fit if they americanised it, but that's my opinion. Looking forward to seeing the result.

Priscilla suits the Palace much more than The Marquis. Perfect fit.

If its Nederlander house, Wonderland could end up at The Richard Rodgers or Nederlander Theatre? A lot of shows playing at Nederlander houses are empty, soon to be empty or have shows that will probably announce closure very soon!

As far as I know coming into Nederlander houses next year are Catch Me If You Can, Dirty Dancing, Priscilla & Wonderland.

Was Sister Act due to enter a Nederlander house?

AnythingGoes - As far as I've heard, Dirty Dancing is no longer happening (I actually think I read that on this board somewhere). There haven't been any announcements made regarding the show in nearly 2 years.

And Love Never Dies is scheduled to take one of the Nederlander theatres in spring 2011 (should it still happen), the Neil Simon.

Sister Act has not announced an affiliation with any particular theatre owners. I actually don't think Priscilla has either, at least not in any press releases I've found.

Actually, Nederlander houses are quite full and booked, with 2 or 3 that may be empty/are empty/or will be empty. I would love for Priscilla to take the Marquis, Sister Act to take the Palace and Wonderland to take the Nederlander.

I actually don't think Priscilla has either,

Priscilla is being produced by The Nederlanders & they have a theatre set now.

In London it's co-produced by A.L.Webber's Really Useful Theatre Group - if that might help. A Nederlander theatre seems logical.
That shoe is just screaming to be in the centre of Times Square.
