Holy crap, how do people afford to see that many shows??
Between mid-May & mid-August I saw 21 shows. I was also away for five weeks of that time. This year I have seen 30 shows. Granted I've seen some shows multiple times. 4 for Young Frankenstein & Gypsy, 3 for Legally Blonde, and 2 for Boeing Boeing.
January - Young Frankenstein, My First Time, Cyrano de Bergerac, Spamalot
February - Young Frankenstein, Mary Poppins
March - Young Frankenstein, Spring Awakening, Little Mermaid
May - Passing Strange, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Gypsy
June - Cry Baby, Boeing Boeing, Xanadu, Legally Blonde
July - Gypsy, August Osage County, Damn Yankees, A Chorus Line
August - Gypsy (twice), Legally Blonde, Lion King, In the Heights, Young Frankenstein, Boeing Boeing, The 39 Steps
I average about two shows a month. My most shows are usually when I take a trip to NYC and pack my schedule with shows!
I can't find my list from last year, but for 2008 June leads the way so far with 12 shows. Yes, some were multiple viewings, but I still went. Runners up ~ July: 11, February: 10, and March: 9. August is looking kind of up there too.
And as for affording...rush, lottery, TDF and discounts. But some of those were full-price. I don't do a lot of extra stuff besides theatre, so that makes it easier.
Looks like my record is 13 in November 2006.
I saw 11 of those shows in one week. (My grandma was visiting)
Runners up:
12 in December 2006
10 in March 2007
10 in May 2007
ETA: And because I'm super-bored right now I calculated the average number of shows I saw per month during the three years that I was living in New York. It's 4. Sounds about right to me.
A few months ago (on another boring day) I went through all my ticket stubs, added them up, and calculated that I had spent an average of $20 per ticket. Not bad!

The "how do you afford?!" question has been asked and answered SO many times...
As for me, there are several things I don't actively avoid just TO GO TO the theatre, but things that never really interested me and I end up saving money without trying. I don't partake in:
* porn
* my own vehicular transportation
* pets
* plants (besides one potato)
* video games
* booze (at least not more than 5 or 6 times a year)
* going on shopping sprees
And I do rush a lot, enter contests (I've seen Les Miz and Piazza for free thanks to that), see shows for my birthday or holidays so other people pay for it... :)
12 in June 2008.
Over the course of a month, 4.

I think the most shows I saw would be when I went to London for 7 days or so. I saw 13 shows.
The most number for a single (same) show I saw in one week was Big River (5 times) when the tour came to town.
Typically I see 2 to 3 shows per month, but now I have four theatre subscriptions, it looks like I'll be seeing a show every week from now until mid October.
