I was wondering if one of you all could help me. About 3 weeks ago I bought 3 HAIR tickets for the 1st Monday performance (July 11) and now I'm fairly certain I can't use them because of something that came up in my schedule. I know their policy (like all other ticket policies) say you can't exchange or refund, but I called and the woman that I spoke to only suggested past-dating. I've done past-dating before and that's not a bad option - it's not like I knew my seat location for the TDF tickets ahead-of-time, but I at least knew what date I was going, and with past-dating you have to rely on their availability the day-of. It would of course be best if I could just sell and repurchase for a different date or exchange, but that's the best-case scenario.

Has anyone else run into a similar situation? What did you do? Would it be helpful to go to the box office (in this case, the St. James) and talk to the box office people there?

I was also considering selling them, but I'm not sure how that would work. Could I switch the tickets from my name to someone else's, or are they very strict about checking the TDF member's ID? I could pick up tickets earlier in the day to hand off to someone else, but it says to pick up 30 minutes prior - are you typically able to pick up, say, at 1 or 2?

Thanks for any insight - I really appreciate it!

I've past-dated TDF tickets before and never had a problem. For one show, I went on the wrong date (I'd accidentally purchased the ticket for a week earlier than I thought I had) and the box office offered me a ticket to that evening's performance without my even asking.

Selling TDF tickets is against the terms of membership and your membership could be terminated if anyone found out. Of course, this doesn't stop people from selling them, but it's something to be wary of. There is also the question of ID: some theatres require identification (usually a driver's license or the printed TDF confirmation) when picking up tickets; others are more lax.

Good luck.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body
