'Ello everyone. So I have an audition for this BOCES program thing (if I were to get in I'd spend half of the school day at the "cultural arts center" taking classes and the other half at my normal high school taking my academic classes) So the audition's two hours long and will contain a song and monolouge as well as an interview, cold reading/improv, and a "small dance routine which will include basic ballet and jazz techniques."
So I really want to look presentable while of course still being able to move and such. Because I have a feeling a pair of sweats from my dance studio and a t shirt is a little too comfortable haha. But I can't think of anything. Would I nice pair of black jeans and a blouse be good? Do I wear my jazz shoes into the audition or change into them for the combination? Has anyone gone to Nassau Boces?

sorry for the pointless post..

here's my take on the matter (from someone who has done a few auditions for stuff like this):

you want to look your best, and to look professional and put-together for the interview/monologues/songs portion. so i would suggest dressy casual, like what you would wear to a job interview. don't wear your jazz shoes into this part, save your dance apparel for the dance part!!!

for the dance part, wear appropriate dance attire. i usually wear a black leotard and black jazz pants...but that's just me. whatever you feel comfortable dancing in is fine for this - but nothing too loose fitting. they'll want to see your body and that will be hidden if your clothes aren't fitted enough.

good luck! i hope you get in!!!

I agree with the professional look for your non-dancing section. I always wear a long sleeve shirt and either a black skirt or pants and my black character shoes. The dacne section I wear black jazz pants too, but I wouldn't wear a black leotard too. If you want to wear a black leotard, I would wear a tank top on top that is the same color as your top from the non-dancing section. It helps the judges remember you when you wear the same colors.
