It's based on a series of articles in the WEEKLY WORLD NEWS - the ultra-sleazy supermarket tabloid that always has ridiculous headlines like "Face of Satan seen in clouds over Iraq" and "Space Ailen meets President Bush". The character of "Batboy" - a strange teenager with long pointy ears and big bug eyes, fist appeared in the Weekly World News about 15 years ago, and has been on the cover dozens of times. When last heard from, Batboy was in a Chicago hospital after being hit by a car.
By the way - buried somewhere inside every issue of the Weekly World News is a disclaimer that says everything in it is totally fictional.

musicnmath, was that the Harvard production you just saw? I saw it on Saturday night. What did you think? I love the show (I saw the professional Boston production at the BCA twice a few years back), and thought overall it was pretty good for a college production, but I thought Dr. Parker was disappointingly weak.
