What was that thing on the wall in the Sweeney Revival?

Just got home from seeing the matinee of Sweeney Todd today. It was FABULOUS! I now understand why people go to see it more than once! There was so much going on, I'm sure I didn't catch half of it.

I loved the use of highlighting certain objects on the wall during certain scenes...the doll in the cage for Joanna, the cross for the Judge. However, I couldn't tell what the object was in a glass bell jar on the shelf about half-way up on the left. My friend thought it was seashells. Is she right?

There's something about halfway up in glass that I believe are white flowers. Is that what you're thinking of?

The thing illuminated? If so, I'd think its a good guess that it is indeed seashells, as it would be a perfect fit for "By the Sea".

Flowers? Ok...maybe...I could buy that..LOL It just seemed so hard to tell what it was and all the others were so easy.

Yes, I was thinking that seashells would work...I just couldn't tell, and it was the one thing I didn't get a good look at. We were in the 2nd row, so most of it was right there....just couldn't tell what was in the jar!

They look like white lilies to me.

I wondered the same thing. It's hard to tell from far away, but I also think they're flowers.

I bet they are sea shells because this song is by the sea, during each musical number the object on the back wall which related to the musical number was illuminated.

Yeah, I see the Virgin Mary too. I don't think it's sea shells just because everything else on the wall is so representive of something else, where as sea shells seem a little obvious to me. Why would they just highlight sea shells? What's the point of it? The Virgin Mary, however, there's something to think about.

I've seen it upclose, and they are, in fact, white lilies. And, yes, there's a Virgin Mary statue.

Thanks all! So it's a Virgin Mary statue surrounded by white lilies......

Does seem strange to me that it isn't clearer exactly what it is. Even in those pictures, I have a hard time....
