I never figured out exactly WHY it was pulled.

I like this site and hope it grows, but damn...whenever I visit Broadway.com I do miss it!

#1I think..

I think it was because they thought the board was obnoxious and instead of discussing theatre they just got all tied up arguing. I never really found that at all though, if anything, it's got much worse since they announced its closure.

It is still open though -

#2In a word...stupidity.

What I could never understand was the statement by the man in charge of that board (moderator, editor-in-chief, whatever)...that people who wanted to express opinions about shows (not about each other) should just "do it somewhere else".

Huh????? What else was a theater message board supposed to be about.

Come again? We weren't supposed to express opinions about SHOWS?????

This is quite different than the generally-supposed reason circulating about demise of the broadway.com message site being that we were expressing opinions about other POSTERS at the site!

That statement, no longer available one would guess at the old board itself, can still be read on Rob's DOTV fan site (dotvfans.com under the thread on the site's message board titled "Broadway.com message board : this is what the B'way.com
editor said..."

...in their screwed up fashion they are too important to post on the board or to explain thing to the people that actually use it. We have to discover it at the bottom of an article.

Just one of about 15 reasons that I like this place better.

#4Message Board is Still There

I still participate on both Message Boards on I can assure you Broadway.com's is still working. Yes, it's isolated, only accesible via a specific bookmark and ignored by their webmaster. It has only 10-15% of the traffic from before, and it is regularly being attacked by immature hackers with a kind of on-line graffiti. However, the Board is definitely still operating but in a much smaller universe.

I still believe the Message Board will not be totally removed but remain in limbo for awhile and someday appear again on the home page via link, when the corporate honchos over there figure out they have screwed up.

My perfect day would begin at on the beach in Hana, Maui and end at a Broadway Musical.

...it not only has less traffic but it seems to be less and less about theater and more & more about the current status of the site and its possible demise. That is sad because there are still some really wonderful people over there who are missed here.

But they too seem to have gotten the message that once they lost Miriam, the writing was on the wall for it ever being like the old days.

Sigh.

#6Yes, some of us still do post there as well as somebody

who is doing their very best to mess the board up. Posting LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG titles and such under names like CutiePie2 and one I'd get my mouth wash out with soap for repeating. It would seem that the owners of BW.Com DO know that we are there because they erased those theads. If they didn't want us there, that would have been the time to just shut the board down--end of story.

I just worry because one of the theories floating around is that someone is trying to chase the people off the old board and on to this board. I know it’s not Rob but if it IS someone else from this board in a misguided attempt to do that, I would have ask him/her to please stop. You can’t make anyone change their mind, if they don't want to post here, so be it. Let the ones who want to keep posting on the old board do so in peace. They aren’t harming anyone and they aren’t coming over here pulling that kind of crap. What does it gain you to mess things up for them?

Sorry for the lecture. I'll step off the soap box now.

...for any other reason than that they want to come post here. I doubt that anyone's doing anything on behalf of this site, but on the off-chance that they are, there's no need. We've got a nice, friendly, growing group here, and I couldn't ask for anything more. Rob doesn't want anyone posting here...

Some cool new features on the way over the next couple of weeks when I return from being sunburnt here on vacation.

I think the reasons that guy gave for closing broadway.com were stupid.... If you're not aloud to express opinions on a message board... what else can you do?
