Posted: 10/7/08 at 10:09pmEVITA isn't happening. Years ago, perhaps, but its not happening. Assuming they are not cancelled, I'd assume "Guys and Dolls" or "Brigadoon".

Someone was saying that Hair was rumored to go into The Nederlander.
When the revival of Evita opened in London Webber was looking at the Neil Simon if the show did well enough for a transfer. As we all know the London revival didn't do well enough to transfer. But, there was also the problem that Hairspray was going strong at that theatre.
There was an article in today's Times that talked about how the financial crises is hurting Broadway. In that article it talked about how Guys and Dolls is not coming to Broadway. However, that was the only place I saw that information so I don't know how true it is. When Guys and Dolls announced that it was coming to Broadway it said that it was going to be in a Nederlander theatre. At that time the only free Nederlander theatre was The Nederlander. But, now that the Neil Simon is soon to be free then I would assume that they would rather go into the bigger Neil Simon then the small Nederlander.

The producers of Guys and Dolls took the Nederlander because at that time there was only one Nederlander theatre available. Now, that they are closing Hairspray there is another Nederlander theatre that is free. Considering the fact that Guys and Dolls would have been a very tight fit in The Nederlander I would be shocked if they wanted to see if they could get a bigger theatre for their show.
