They've been written about everything from trains to hippies. What story/current issue/lifestyle/circumstance do you think would translate well to the broadway stage?
Hunchback of Notre Dame- take Schwartz's music and make it a full scale musical
Murder on the Orient Express
Rumplestiltskin
What About Bob- I am currently writing the musical....
Bridget Jones.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.
gherbert and I have discussed this. We both believe that "Sabrina fair" which is the inspiration for the classic film "Sabrina" would be a great musical. I think Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick should do it. Preferably in a style like She Loves Me, just not as long.

the life of aretha franklin. i'm working on the libretto right now. =)
Blood Brothers.
Waiting for a good musical to come out of that.
The Surreal Life.
I am my own wife.
lol
Anastasia
MAYBE Pleasantville
It's been said before but..ugh cant remember the title...Zellweger and McGregor?
A co-worker and I were talking about this very thing today:
The movie Heathers.
Would that not be genius? With the big Act I-ending showstopper, "I love my dead gay son"?
I think the time is right for an anorexia/bulemia musical. Don't know why I think this, but I do.
A musical version of "In & Out"
Harry Potter and the never ending musical
Wickedfan:
I think that is a great idea: In & Out the musical - especially if they changed it to the tonys and things i like that - that would make a good musical.
I am currently writing a musical now (not In & Out)

I always thought a loose adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing would sing nicely.

With all the crazy high-tech, defying gravity stuff that's going on I'm surprised the evil empire (Disney) hasn't staged The Little Mermaid yet.
Prince of Egypt
Anastasia
Big Business (lol - my friends are currently working on the musical of it)
I second Anastasia...that movie is one of my guiltiest pleasures!
Ok so not as a musical but I always wanted to see a staged production of The Odyssey. It would be really difficult if done well I think it would be phenomenal. I just adore the story.
Disney's Hunchback was staged in Germany already. I saw it in Berling in 1999.
Home Sweet Homer was a musical version of The Odyssey that ran for one performance on Broadway starring Yul Brynner and Joan Diener.
I think the movie Heart and Souls would make an excellent musical as well as Ruthless People (or possibly from the original film version from the 50s entitled Too Many Crooks). And the book The Witch of Blackbird Pond has definite possibilities.

Nightmare Before Christmas and Moulin Rouge.
Prince of Egypt would also be a good one.
Spiderman and Batman... oh, wait, those would make terrible musicals... what? these are in the works? ugh
