jmaclover: i'm actually concocting my own version of In & Out. I have the story written out. the actual book itself is yet to be written. but i have lyrics to most of the songs. the first act 2 song is in the style of "Getting Married Today" called "Beautiful Wedding Chaos". I am proud of most of the songs. Others need to be tweaked. whats ur musical about?
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.
Destiny, there already is one in the developmental process about anorexia. It's called "Normal." I did a reading of it last summer, it needs a lot of rewriting, but it has good ideas.
Anastasia? Well, wouldn't it be a bit too strange, after all they found the remains of that royal family a couple of years ago and one of them actually was the princess Anastasia...? So, what would be the point of it?
ALl my good ideas I am scared of giving away. But lately I have been going to the library to find material that screams to be adapted. I have actually come across a few good ones, but none that just said "Make me into a musical" yet.
Disney does not stay behind, after their musical AIDA closed down, they are thinking and I even think its under development of the musical THE LITTLE MERMAID. In Disney World, Orlando, they have a 30min staged show of this musical.
In other note, I hear people talking about making music for movies (ex. In and Out) I am currently writing music for a movie (which I will not name) But isnt this illegal? I mean, isnt this why they're copyright laws? Maybe some of you are writing just for fun, but what if we really want to get this "musical" on its feet? ( I know there is money involved ) but besides that?
