Emmett was Callahan's lapdog in the movie as well. I am pretty sure nobody suspected Callahan was like that. Neither the movie or the book gave us that impression.

In the sequel (I only recommend it as a torture device) it basically mentioned that Emmett was a local, Red Sox fan who wanted to get married at Fenway Park so that is there (as he was raised in a 'Roxbury slum'). Him being poor was basically making him the opposite of Elle, to offer inspiration that he since he got through his hell she could. I don't think it was done to make him and her equal outcasts.

In the movie the hot tub thing was just as unrealistic as the marching band invasion over her personal essay. It made a nice fluffy musical number so I won't complain.

Elle was tutored by her fellow Delta Nus who were actually there for her in the movie- at least some of the time- rather than partying.

I have some scholastic turn-arounds stranger than Elle's but I had a hard time believing she was not put under guidance for her early bad grades if that was the case, but then again it could be different in law school. I think Warner helping seemed more realistic and the relationship being developed in a better way than pursuing Warner forgetting about him and getting Emmett who does care but we don't see nearly that much affection. Also Warner just looked shallow in the movie going with the flow of his family's rules, he was far meaner and patronizing in the show.

In the movie, Emmett's an associate at Callahan's law firm. In the musical, he's his TA. Which doesn't really make any sense.

And, yeah, Warner actually comes across best in the novel. He's more sympathetic.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I'm seeing it in February. I wonder if Sheridan will be preforming on Sundays. Legally Blonde is one of the only West End shows to have Sunday performances.
