I've heard mid-October, but anyone know exactly when Amy Morton will be departing the NY production of AUGUST: OC? I am dying to see her in the show one more time.

I have no idea what the exact date is but she is directing Dublin Carol at Steppenwolf and that begins previews on November 6th. Mid-October seems logical.

I thought Amy was announced for the West End production in November, and her directing stint was going to be rescheduled?

The rescheduled directing stint you are thinking of was for Tracy Letts' Superior Donuts, which started back in June. The London production of August is probably starting after Dublin Carol is up and running.

I wish I knew the exact date, I am wondering whether to go see her last performance or just book a ticket to go to NY for the end of September just to be on the safe side. I'd wait but I really need to book my flight by the end of this week.
Frogs, I had forgotten about Morton's upcoming directing duties, thanks for the reminder.

I wish I could see her again in this show. Such a moving performance. That was my first Broadway play and I couldn't have asked for a better show or performance. She's an incredible actress.

I saw the show two weeks ago and Amy mentioned Oct 2nd being her last show, but I would have thought it would have been Oct 5. But she is just a power house in this show and she will just blow the people away in London.

Oct. 2nd? Thanks for sharing that, I might just plan a trip for that day then. I must see her one last time, I still don't get how she didn't win a Tony for the role. I just remember the intensity which with she injects that performance and I get chills. Honestly, they should film the London run for commercial release (which probably would never happen because of the proposed film but one can hope), I'd love to see Morton's take on the role over and over and over again.

I wonder what will happen to the New York production when this happens, as I suppose that will be the last day for a large chunk of the cast. I think the show is doing too well at the moment for a full-on closure. A brand new cast. Maybe from Chicago/with a few Steppenwolf Ensemble members? New York actors? Well done celeb casting? I think that it will be very interesting to say the least.

The show has been doing very well for itself, considering the two actresses who won Tonys aren't in the show anymore.

Of course, this could be because most of the critics re-reviewed it (mostly because of Estelle Parsons) and raved again, but I don't think AUGUST will be leaving anytime soon.

Considering that it recouped in a fast pace for a straight play, I don't see this show gong anywhere anytime soon either.
