When Is Sutton Foster Leaving SHREK?

Does anyone know when her contract is up? Also, I've heard she calls out quite a bit, is this true?

re: Sutton Foster Leaving SHREK?

I don't know anything offcial about her contract, but I do know that the leads usually sign a one year contract, which should be up in Dec.

Sutton is not out a lot. The only times I have known her to miss Shrek was the night before her concert in Feb, and when she was sick a couple of times. Oh, and she had one week long vacation. Other then that, she is always in. So as long as you don't happen to go when she is sick, then you should be fine.

I hope you will get to catch her before she leaves, I saw her in this role four times so far, and she's just great! :)

She was out when I took my family to see it in April....but I don't think she could be categorized as out "a lot". She's a professional. Haven was fine.

It's not a show my family loved....by a long stretch. I also don't think the part is so challenging that it suffers from an understudy.

I love Sutton, but I would love to see Haven in the role. She is a wonderful performer.

Foster is leaving when her contract expires, which should be next month (a year from the first preview out-of-town in Seattle.)

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Yeah, I think next month seems about right. But does she have any new roles lined up? I mean, if she's not going to another show, she could extend her contract for a shorter period. At least through summer. Am I right?

I hope Haven Burton gets to replace her (if the show is still running). I'd love to see her in this role (it would be the only thing to get me back to Shrek).

Out of town contracts do not carry over to the b'way run. They start anew. I'm sure if she wants to stay they would have her.

That's not true at all.

The standard contract covers a performer for a year from the first preview out-of-town, which gives producers flexibility in their time frame selection (and committal option) for a Broadway run if one is immediately scheduled already.

Sutton Foster as Mrs.Wilkinson? I don't think anybody, including Foster, wants to see that happen.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

My first choice for Sutton's next role would be that of a hitchhiker headed for Cali-forn-i-a.

re: Sutton Foster Leaving SHREK?

Last month Sutton did a reading for Bonnie and Clyde as Bonnie, written by her brother Hunter Foster. Also, Christopher Siber did it too. And Will Swansen from HAIR was Clyde. I'm not sure how long [or if] it will make it to Broadway, but I know I would love to see this one!

Although I am personally kinda hoping that Sutton will do a stright play next. Not that I don't LOVE her in musicals, but I would love to see more of her amazing acting skills! :)

I doubt that.

re: Sutton Foster Leaving SHREK?

Thanks for letting me know guys. :)

I just keep hearing how she is out. It seems everytime I hear about the show, I hear an understudy was on for Fiona. I also know that when my school went (I wasn't able to attend because of a wedding) that an understudy was on for the role.

But I'm definitely planning on checking it out. I've never seen here live before (though my friend has, TWICE!) and I love her.
