Isn't it about 3 weeks prior? I could be wrong.

i thought that the 5 musicals that are nominated for "best musical" perform... i could be wrong, too.
The 4 musicals eligible for "Best New Musical" and the 3 for "Best Revival" may perform. Pacific Overtures will most likely not perform live, though.
I thought the question was who would perform, as in which actors/songs. I do not know when they decide that.

Do the revivals perform?
They normally perform, I still get chills from Bernadette's "Rose's Turn" two years ago.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels- any song with Norbert and john
Spamalot- song with Tim, Hank, and David
Light- victoria clark
Sweet Charity- Christina Applegate
Spelling Bee- whatever the first or last song is.
La Cage- a whole family song
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels- This one is up in the air, I really would like to see them pick "Dirty Rotten Number" but I think they need to feature Joanna Gleason and give special mention to the snubbed Gregory Jbara.
Spamalot- I would probably say a shortened version of "The Knights of the Round Table" it shows off everybody and especially Sarah Ramirez and Tim Curry.
Light- I don't know the show well enough to offer an opinion or suggestions
Sweet Charity- Maybe "Rhythm of Life"
Spelling Bee- The same situation as Light in the Piazza
La Cage- I'd lean towards "We are What We Are"

DRS: Ruffhousin mit Shuffhousin
Spamalot: Bright Side of Life/Song that Goes Like This/Not Dead Yet
Piazza: Victoria Clark's song
Spelling Bee: Title Song
Charity: I'm a Brass band
La Cage: Title song
DRS: I think they'll end up doing Dirty Rotten Number - nothing else features everyone
PIAZZA: Ms. Clark's 11 o'clock number
CHARITY: I'm A Brass Band, all the way
SPELLING BEE: I think either the opener shortened or perhaps Lif Is Pandemonium. With this one I could also see them doing a Charlie Brown/Avenue Q type thing where they do pieces of one or more songs into a medley of sorts - wouldn't surprise me
LA CAGE: No idea.
SPAMALOT: Knights of the Round Table
DRS: Dirty Rotten Number and/or Great Big Stuff
Piazza- Fable
Charity- Either Bravest Individual or If They Could See Me Now leading in to Brass Band.
Spelling Bee- Pandemonium
La Cage- La Cage Aux Folles (Title Song)
Spamalot- The Knights of the Round Table/ The Song that Goes Like This
Charity - should do If They Could See Me Now, but i think it will be I'm a Brass Band
La Cage - Should do We Are What We Are... i mean the Cagelles are the show

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: Probably either Dirty Rotten Number, maybe even All About Ruprechet.
La Cage Aux Folles: La Cage Aux Folles or The Best of Times
SpamAlot: Knights of the Round Table or Fisch Slapping Song or Always Look on the Bright Side or Run Away!

I'd expect the announcement to take place later this week. It often comes in waves as show producers finalize their plans with the Tony broadcast producers. I think any of the above-mentioned song choices are possibilities.
I think--just because--they should throw in Sutton singing "Astonishing"
JMO!
I wish wish wish they would do "love is my legs" for DRS!! that'd be the best!

I would like Sutton Foster to perform "Astonishing", too. I just want to hear her sing it live because God knows that I refuse to ever see Little Women.
PIAZZA will not put "Fable" as their number. After the CAROLINE, OR CHANGE fiasco last year, the producers will not want to put forth a number that is esoteric and won't work well outside the context of the show. They will probably do the title number.

What was the Caroline or Change fiasco? I was actually at a RENT tour the night of the Tonys last year, so I missed them. Please explain! Also, are shows closed the night of the Tonys? Since it's a Sunday, do they have the matinee or not?
I really hope that Sutton Foster gets to sing something, but my assumption is she isn't going to. But I would love to see "Astonishing" Tony night.
And for Piazza... why wouldn't they do a song with Victoria Clark and Matthew Morrison, I mean... he was nominated for a Tony too and I think he should sing too.

I say we bombard the Tony Board and force them to squeeze-oh I don't know- 4:35 for Sutton's "Astonishing".
C'mon, 4 minutes couldn't possibly hurt!
Muahahaha!! We'll take over the world!

I also think that Piazza should do something that has all three of the nominated performers, or at least two of them.

"Piazza" *will* do something. It's one of the four nominees for Best Musical...ergo, it gets a performing slot.
EDIT: Oops, never mind. It would help if my eyes didn't skip over important words in sentences...

Somehow I don't see DRS doing the Dirty Rotten Number as Sherie isn't featured in it, unless the do the finale part but that gives away the ending. And considering they added a message on the CD warning about spoilers, I don't see it happeneing. I'm thinking they may go for the Shuffhousin number. I've heard from a few people that Spamalot is leaning towards Find Your Grail, but nothing has been decided.
The Caroline fiasco was basically using clearly the wrong choice of Lot's Wife. While a powerful song, it looses the majority of the feeling and emotion when taken out of context. They were more interested in showcasing Tonya than finding the right fit for the Tonys.

find your grail would be a great great choice for spamalot. it's the best song in the show and features a tour de force by sara ramirez (who they obviously will want to showcase)...
piazza is going to have a tough time because there really isn't a great song with victoria, kelli and matthew. i was actually thinking about this while i was watching the show. i think the best option would be to do the title song because fable won't work. the octet is funny and would feature the most of the leading players, but while the title song is only kelli, it will highlight the show the best and draw in more audience.
there is no way sutton will get to perform.
i really think la cage should do we are what we are, but they might do the title number for gary's benefit...
spelling bee should do the title number or pandamonium in my opinion.
sweet charity will probably do i'm a brass band, but might do if my friends could see me now to give christina her moment in the spotlight...
and last is drs which i think is the hardest to call... i think they will really want to get their three leads in and i think their best bet would be to do a modified version of the finale as to not give away any plot points... they'll never do ruprecht because it is not "tony appropriate" and they won't feature gettelfinger over sherie... shuffhausen works in the show, not by itself... no one will have any idea what's going on with yodeling... dirty rotten number/finale are the most accessible to the audience and will draw the biggest crowds...
wow, i'm spent.

Good point about DRS apdarcey. The only other thing I could see happening would be to do a medley of Give Them What They Want to show John Lithgow and go into Love is My Legs for Norbert and Sherie.
