Where do YOU get YOUR Broadway tickets?
#0Where do YOU get YOUR Broadway tickets?
Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:23pmI can't seem to find ANY good tickets (Fronter Center Orchestra) for under $280, or somewhere around there. Maybe it's just that I'm not used to those prices, but they seem insane!

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:25pmwww.broadwaybox.com is a great place for discounted tickets to broadway and off-broadway shows, unless you are connected.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:26pm$280 per ticket? Where are you looking?

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:30pmJust look on ticketmaster or telecharge! Even if you don't use discount codes, ticketmaster/telecharge full price tickets are FAR less than $280 apiece. That's insane.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:31pmThe first place to look is Telecharge, not a broker. The best place, of course, is the box office itself- I get most of my tickets through student rush- but obviously that doesn't work for everyone.

Broadway Box & TDF
I also used to get mail offerings but they are now few & far between

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:35pmheck, often at the show site itself......we got RENT tickets for last Monday for only $45 each
#10re: Where do YOU get YOUR Broadway tickets?
Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:38pmI buy them at the box office 95% of the time. No fees that way, and you can pick your seats, and it's easy.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 8:40pmTKTS...you have to be flexible and willing to see several shows. I have always gotten excellent seats, Yesterday afternoon, I got 11th row orch for Good Vibrations. The past 2 months I have had front orch for La Cage and Little Women also.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 9:03pmTDF, TKTS, BroadwayBox, and the theatre box office. I rarely ever use Telecharge or Ticketmaster.

TDF, student rush, Broadway Box. Only thing I paid full price (NOT $280! - you crazy?
)for recently is Spamalot.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 9:12pmAlso, if you join Playbill.com, they will send you e-mails with discount codes and whatnot. Most of them are really good. I just got a code for $50 tickets for "The Pillowman".

Posted: 4/21/05 at 9:19pmI'm on every discount ticket mailing list and email list that's out there and get a few 30-50% off offers every single day. Between all those flyers, emails, and Broadwaybox I almost never pay full price for anything. I've also recently discovered the Play Only window at TKTS -- since the vast majority of people want to see musicals, there's never a line at the play window. It only took me about three minutes to get a great half price seat for "Glengarry Glen Ross" yesterday.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 9:38pmTDF is an absolute godsend. I buy a good 75% of my tickets thru their online offers, and that number would be even higher if I hadn't done the $25 balcony seats at LA CAGE 7 times. But TDF also has LA CAGE a lot of the time, with seats in the orchestra or mezz, for $33. That's the same I paid for front row mezz at DIRTY ROTTEN, as well as for some great orchestra seats at RECKLESS. the time I brought myself to spend the $30 on DRACULA thru TDF, they put me 5th row orchestra, dead center. Off-Broadway's even cheaper, which is a perk because it's also better, than Broadway. SVU and DESSA were $25. and just last week I got to see that wonderful DARLING OF THE DAY Mufti concert for $21. So I guess I'm trying to say "If you qualify, join TDF!!" And a lot of people do in fact qualify who just assume they they're far too auccessful be a candidate for anything with the words "development" or "fund" in the title.

Posted: 4/21/05 at 10:48pmlol IMsooHypr! besides TDF and Broadwaybox, if you're a little risky you can try getting coupons off ebay for broadwayoffers.com. sometimes the sellers have coupons given to them by their companies/hoity toity organizations and they can offer you $40-60 front 5 rows center on big productions i.e. POTO, Chicago instead of the normal back orch seats offered with other codes.

Awesome site...they rotate the discounts every month or so:)
#21re: Where do YOU get YOUR Broadway tickets?
Posted: 4/22/05 at 2:51amI do lottery or TKTS. My last resort is box office. If I can spend 50 bucks for a 100 buck seat, I'd rather do it that way.

I usually get student rush tickets, standing room, or lottery tix at the box office.
I also get codes for discounted tickets all the time and use that at the box office.

Posted: 4/22/05 at 2:58amI use the TDF or lottery route most times, now that this site turned me on to TDF. Student Rush for all that have it. Theatremania or BroadwayBox for discounts, and entertainment-link just to make sure its all covered. I don't usually use TKTS, the time, or anything full price, the $.
