Are you serious? Why is this important, at all? Sure, people know where actors live, but it's not something you should put on a message board!

Yeah Emcee you're immaculately conceived. You tell us!
P.S. Emcee I'm with you in regards to this subject.

to answer your question from a very general standpoint, some actors live in NYC, some dont.

Emcee is a true Broadway (world) legend... can i have your autograph?
No. I don't sign, I'm a huge diva.
... but for you, anything. Let me just... go get another pen.
And why do you think they would all live in "cheap little apartments?" Broadway pays well when you can get it, and then a lot of them supplement with voice overs, commercials, TV and film, etc. Some live quite nicely.
I don't think that sassypanz wanted specifics. Just a general idea. I've wondered the same thing with touring cast memebers. However, I just asked them myself rather than taking it to the message board. As for the touring casts, they do rent lil appartments if they will be in the city for a while, otherwise they're in hotels. But for Broadway cast members, I'd have no clue.
I think they're all in the general Manhattan area....
Well, it's not like they all live in one big penned-off section of Manahattan, either. It varies.

In the tri-state area. One often sees the Broderick family walking around SoHo, Mr. Fierstein at a supermarket in Connecticut, and much more.
I have friends who've had both of these encounters, so they're true.
Well, yeah. Manhattan's a big place. Just saying they all live in the general Manhattan area.
I wasn't addressing you, lol.

And not just Manhattan - many live in Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey, etc. A 20-minute train ride gets you much better deals on housing than living in Manhattan proper.

Usually with tours...2 weeks or more, they will rent an apartment or a hotel suite with a kitchenette...one week or less, usually a hotel.
I have always wondered if anyone has followed an actor home...lol...I am sure some have tried, but a lot of actors go out afterwards.
lol. I am sure people have tried. And probably succeeded.
I used to have a friend who was a real estate agent in Manhattan. She handled some of these rentals for the leading actors in a show. In some cases these folks lived on the West Coast and needed a decent place to live that was fairly close to the theatre. Some were private clients who would call her and let her know as much as they could about when they would be here and what kind of living arrangements they wanted. Some were producers who would include a clause in the actor's contract saying that they would provide housing for the extent of the run. (Of course these were limited to what the producers were willing to pay.) She maintained a listing of fully furnished apartments around town that were available on a month by month basis. This was the 'shopping list' she used to try and find them an apartment.
They all live together in a big House on 42nd street.
I also can't believe someone would ask this???

Actually, you're all wrong.
They live in their dressing rooms. Duh.
Well, we know Adam and Raul spend their times on Idi...I mean Em's...wall.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Don't you know there are whole little communities under the stages and seats in all the theatres?
Wow. And you wondered why sometimes they're late coming up from the trap doors! If you leave food in the theatre, too (which you shouldn't have in there to begin with, TSK!) they eat it. So if you think a performer is too skinny, just bend down at intermission and put a note and a Snickers under your seat. This is how many people get fanmail to Shoshana, too, in case you were wondering. Try it sometime and ask her if she got it! If she seems creeped out, that's just beacuse she's shocked you discovered their secret.
Cheap little apartments? Have you ever priced apts in New York? $1000 per month would be cheap...rediculous rents in nyc....yet I love it here.
...South Street, South Street! (sorry unles you're from Philly you won't get that that's a song).
There's a fair amount of Equity actors that are "homeowners" in outskirts of the city namely Westchester County, Nyack and other areas within 30 min. of NYC, as well as in Conn. and mid to North Jersey.
Many single or single couples choose to live in Manhattan. A few will rent out their apts.if they get booked in long term tours to friends or fellow actors.
