The only movie theater so far that will be showing RENT on November 23rd is the Kabuki 16 on Post. Other theaters, like AMC downtown and Lowes (the biggest movie theater in Downtown SF), as of this time, will be showing the movie. Does anyone know why? I am suprised not may movie theaters are playing this film!!

Looks like you'll have to go to San Leandro. (!)
wtf?
Or Walnut Creek.
closer, at least
Check Daly City 20, They already have their advances up. I believe some theatres are waiting after the Harry Potter 4 weekend, to find out how things stands before they proceed with scheduling additional movies on Weds. Patient, it'll be there soon enough (Trust me, I have some inside scoop on theatre chains in SF) :)
The UA Metro has it on Union St.
And if you look closer...you might even find one playing before wednesday.
Before Wednesday? And where do I need to look?

I've been looking for a midnight showing in SF. If anybody has info about one, can you PM me? Thanks!

me too, thanks!
There will not be a midnight show in SF. If the studio wanted one, you would have seen mass midnight show across the nation. The first available shows will be at matinee at selected theatres. As for closest theatre near or in SF, Daly City 20, Metreon, AMC, Century Plaza in SSF, Marin (Larkspur, Northgate, Regency, Rowland: These showtimes will be appearing soon)
Thank you! I know that AMC Kabuki is going to show the movie and there is an advance screening on Monday the 21st @ 7:30pm, I also heard of a Midnight showing there as weel (can any confirm?).
I am just suprised to see that a movie as big as this (probably 2nd from Harry Potter) that it is not being shown at every local movie theatre (since it was also filmed her in SF) and that the BIG Chains are not showing it on the day it is suppose to be released, November 23rd, NATION WIDE!!! I can see if it was in limited release but Nation WIDE!!

There will be no midnight shows (unless it's a private event, invites only or enough demands). 2nd from Harry Potter? Maybe. There's a lot of good products released around this time of year. I saw Walk The Line last night and it was great. Check that one out too.

There's a midnight showing at the Metreon on Tuesday Nov. 22, 11:59pm. You're all very welcome! You can worship me now.

Oooo yea. I know people at Metreon and got several free passes for it. I might be there, but also got invited to a private one earlier that evening. YES!
Thanks guys! Hey defing_gravity2, I called Metreon yesterday and they said they are not planning to show RENT yet at this time. So, how can they be showing a MIDNIGHT show on Tuesday?

I have no idea. I called the Metreon yesterday asn asked about a midnight showing. They said they weren't sure and told me to call back on Monday. Then I found the showtimes on Fandango this evening. My guess is that they got a lot of calls and decided to have one.
Check out wildaboutmovies.com. I don't know how many they have left but I just got my screening passes for tommorow at the Presidio theatre!

I'm going to the one at the Presidio, too. I guess I'll see you there. I thought they were out of passes for SF. I guess not :)

Just looked up the Presidio theatre, I thought it was small, how many screens do they have, there's 4 other movies listed as playing there tonight around 7 PM. Is it a 5 screen? I don't think it is.....

I thought the Presidio only had one or two screens. Maybe they remodeled. I called yeterday, and the screening IS happening for sure. See you guys there!
I thought it was small too, I know they were closed for a while and recently reopened. I'm headed over there straigt from work to line up! Can't wait!
Tonight I saw Rent at the Presidio and I enjoyed the film. The screening room was too small and could not accommodate the massive audience that was lined up in front and around the block of the theatre. Originally, the screening were to be played in the main auditorium that seated more than the one they shacked us up in. One of the manager said that they didn't expect Rent to attract this much attention so they moved it to a smaller screening room. Tisk, tisk. I think that since they had a high turn out for the promotional screening that they could had swap the auditoriums around. They even tried to bribe us to go to their other promotion of Just Friends that was also playing around the same time. A lot of people were turned down from seeing the movie and I could see the look of disappointment in their faces. Because we were placed in a smaller auditorium, half of the room was reserved which was ridiculous. I'm going to see Rent again in a few minutes so I'll write a review later. I just wanted to say, yes the audience did mooed. And it didn't bothered any one at all, because it was all part of the fun.
I think some people in SF (movie theaters) are underestimating the impact that this movie is going to have. I work right by the PRESIDIO THEATER and saw the line and I was like wow....cool. I did find out more information...the Metreon will show RENT starting on WED. So there goes the wondering of how they would have a MIDNIGHT show on the 22nd and yet not show the movie on OPENING DAY. But, I am going to the one at midnight tonight and then again on Wed at 1pm.
I am very excited!!

I'll be seeing it at the Kabuki I guess. I can't believe it isn't playing on Van Ness! Errr...
