Buy the revival and see the movie. The revival has the same movie songs and adds more, and Kerry and Hunter have AMAZING voices :) I have both and like the revival better

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I would recommend all of them for the different qualities. Get the original for the vintage sound that they originally went for.
Get the soundtrack SPECIFICALLY for Tisha Campbell, Tachina Arnold, and Michelle Weeks - NOONE sounds better than these three!!!(also for the songs that were added for the movie)
Get the revival, not only for the new renditions of songs, but they also have extra tracks from songs that were cut out of the show.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I would go with the rvival but that may be because Ellen Green has always bugged me as Audrey. Just my personal prefrence.

All the Audrey's annoyed me. I'm sure you can get your hands on Steve Martin's Dentist song by itself. Rent the movie for the movie score. But I'd get the revival cast, cause it has all the songs, and Douglas Sills! Yay!

I would say the revival cast recording. Hunter is fun and Kerry adds her pop belt to the role and it's fun to blare in your car. I feel like all three have different sounds and I like the revival the best.

Though I love Ellen, I'd say the revival for the Urchins, they are so powerful and the harmonies sound correct because of it, unlike the original.

I actually like Jennifer Leigh Warren in the original.

Whatever happened to her. Last I saw her was in "Grace of My HEart" - as she played the character based off of Little Eva.

I love Hunter Foster, but the movie soundtrack is the best recording in my mind. It's fun, and Rick Moranis nails Seymour. Plus, any recording of LSOH without Ellen Greene isn't worth it (though I did buy the OBC)

I would buy the OCR first than the revival.

In my opinion, the revival broadway cast recording is the best. I love Hunter and Kerry both individually and together and the Urchins were amazing! Plus they had the newer renditions of the songs and the bonus tracks. The movie recording is good but the only thing that bugged me was Ellen Greene. Her voice really irritated me for some reason.

I wish that there was a recording of Alice as Audrey. I would have loved to have seen her performance. I like Kerry fine, but her Audrey didn't do anything for me.

ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING!!!!

Without a doubt! There is no contest! The revival recording is okay, but Kerry Butler is abominable and it's very bad quality. Definitely the original.

I really want to get the original cast recording. I've got the revival cast, a recording of the national tour, and the movie tracks so at this point I've accepted my obsession and just started collecting. :-P

I agree with som. I was never a huge Ellen fan. I do like Steve Martin's rendition of Dentist though. I thought it was pretty funny. I would go with the revival.

Either one with Ellen Greene...I prefer the one with Lee Wilkoff...but thats just me. Either the Original or the movie though...they have the heart and the real emotion that the revival was lacking. The originals have the grit and the realness that made Little Shop so special and fun. Plus, nobody can beat that big rock belt Ellen has on Suddenly Seymour and her phenominally touching rendition of Somewhere Thats Green.

You'd be crazy to get one that doesn't feature Ellen.

Yeah I loved Steve Martin as Orin. Actually I really liked the whole cast except for Ellen Greene. I didn't hate her or think she was horrible but she definitly wasn't my favorite. Her voice would change pitches every 5 seconds. One minute it was that really breathy, lispy voice, the next it was very oparetic with no hint of an accent or lisp and the next she was belting. Tari Kelly is currently my favorite Audrey I think. She just has great comedic timing and she really perfected that accent. Not to mention she has a great voice.
