Another vote for "On the Twentieth Century." By the way, the name of Oscar's version of Joan of Arc was "The French Girl."

One of the great things about the "On the Twentieth Century" number is that we get to see some of the train unfold in front of our eyes. The big number, of course, is when we see the locomotive and the rest of the train in the "She's a Nut" number.

I was only 15 when I saw the show, but I remember most of it to this day. What a great, fun show!

Ragtime - can't put it into words, but I remember being blown away the first time I saw it

Titanic - early in its run, I remember the thunderous applause and audible appreciation from the audience when this number ended

42nd Street - the audition tap number is quite exciting

Hairspray - there is something about "Good Morning Baltimore" that just oozes (for lack of a better word) with optimism. For some reason this opening always brings a tear to my eye.

Chicago..."All That Jazz" is great
Ragtime
Urinetown

I also love the opening of Rent for some reason.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

i dunno, i always always always loved "Prologue" and "Science Fiction, Double Feature" from RHS. Always gets me really happy for the rest of my day after listening to that.

When I was about 14, I saw a production of South Pacific at the Jones Beach Theater. It is out doors right on the beach. The cast opened the show by arriving on small boats that came from the water right up to the stage. It just seemed so appropriate for a production that actually did take place on a beach.

Drood opens with "There You Are", an opening which introduces the actors of a London theater troupe, who are performing in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". It's a fun number, and the show itself is sorely underrated.
