So I've totally blown my budget on B'way musicals this year and then some, having seen Great Comet, Come from Away, DEH, Hello Dolly!, Sunset Blvd, Waitress, plus POTO and Cats tickets for me and my mom. I've also seen the plays Oslo, Little Foxes, and Six Degrees of Separation.
Right now I'm debating between three choices:
1. See Bandstand and Groundhog Day, two musicals I haven't seen but are on TDF
or
2. See Waitress again with Sara Bareilles before she leaves because I loved her so much the first time
or
3. See Donna Murphy in Hello Dolly!
I can ONLY pick one of these choices if I wish not to go bankrupt.
Just as a frame of reference, I LOVED DEH and Waitress because of their tuneful scores and emotional subject matters. I loved seeing Dolly! but am interested in what Donna Murphy would bring to the role. I've listened to Groundhog Day and Bandstand and so far the numbers don't catch my ear except for "Seeing You." I thought Come From Away was nice and enjoyable but it isn't something I'd rush to see again.
