FINALLY!
I hope it is as successful as it has been in the different cities over the past 4 years.
I am also hoping for some of the original cast involved in the Broadway version.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 5:27pmThat's wonderful news. At least I won't have to travel far to see it as I did last year (Boston). But it was nice to visit a city I hadn't been to in over 20 years.

I adore the "Blue Skies" arrangement especially.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 5:48pmTo anyone who has seen this show out of town: does it include the "Mandy" number from the film? I'm guessing it doesn't, since it's not on the cast recording I have. But I was just hoping that maybe it did, because that big Vera Ellen dance was the best part of the movie...

Posted: 8/4/08 at 5:51pmDo you think I should wait and get the recording after I see the show?

NO. No "Mandy" number is included in this show.
Don't worry about dance numbers though, there are plenty to enjoy. "I Love a Piano" was my favorite.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 6:21pmGreat News ! Terrific , fun show. I certainly hope Jeffrey Denman takes part again and finally claims a Broadway leading role as his own. He's a super talent !

Ah, that's kind of disappointing, but maybe just as well now that I think about it. Randy Skinner seems unable to choreograph anything with any bit of originality or imagination anyway IMO, so I probably would've been just as disappointed if it had been included.

This news made my Monday! I've been hoping WHITE CHRISTMAS would come to Broadway since I saw it in Boston last year. I had no big expectations when I walked in, thinking "I'm sure it'll be fine, you really can't screw up that score", but it knocked me out with fantastic dancing (Denman & Patterson could not be topped) and singing (Kerry O'Malley made me teary with delight - no kidding - when she sang "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me"), gorgeous sets and costumes and a plot that zipped along. (I didn't see Brian d'Arcy James, but his understudy was excellent). It was SO much better than the movie (though I do loves me some Vera-Ellen). I'll be visting the Marquis several times!!!
Raspberry: Trust me. You won't miss "Mandy". The "I Love A Piano" number is a showstopper that will make you grin from ear to ear.
The rumor is that McCullum is looking for a "Hollywood Legend" to play Martha Watson (and give the box office a boost)...any ideas who could do it?!

I was hoping Karen Morrow would repeat her Boston turn in the show. I have no idea who they are thinking of for the role!
I am hoping to see Anastasia Barzee reprise her Betty Haynes role (sorry TulitaPepsi!) as she was the first one I saw singing "Love, You didn't do right by me". So, of course, I am biased in her favor. I am sure O'Malley knocked it out of the park as well though.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 7:22pmIts too bad Brian D'Arcy James can't participate, but I'm very excited about Jeffry Denman's return to Broadway!
#18re: White Christmas to the Marquis
Posted: 8/4/08 at 7:30pmI am disappointed that Brian won't be able to participate in this but I am glad that this show will finally make it to Broadway, even if only for a short stint. :)
Who would play you in the movie? "Taye Diggs." --Brian d'Arcy James

Either Anastasia or Kerry will be just fine, justme! It would be great to have Karen Morrow as well. I am sorry about Brian not being in it as he and Jeffry are great buds and from what I've been told their chemistry is terrific.
But the most important "MUSTS" (and I'm 100% sure they are in) are Jeffry & Meredith.

It would be wonderful to see Karen Morrow back on Broadway. I ran into her at a party last year and told her how sorry I was that the night I saw the show in LA, she was out and replaced by an understudy.
I know many people will knock this show for being "old fashioned", "unoriginal", etc., etc. but it is a beautifully old-fashioned show with great sets, great choroegraphy, and a 26 piece orchestra which one doesn't see anymore on Broadway.
It's nice for once to see a show for once where the sets don't look like they came out of the 99 cent store, the orchestra isn't reduced and/or synthesized, and you don't have 3 chorus members playing 25 roles. Those of you who are under 30 probably don't even know the pleasure of an old-fashioned treat such as this.

I saw a touring version produced by Theater of Stars and it was a GREAT show, so the original production has to be wonderful. I've known Jeff Denman since he was a teen ager and he is a terrific talent and a really nice guy (is getting married Aug 16). I hope he gets to do the Broadway production.
If you haven't read his book "A Year with the Producers", it is a wonderful book telling what happens from the first auditions up to the time Jeff went on for Matthew Broadrick.
