Regarding the racially diverse casting...
The current London cast broke the mold by having a black Javert and Enjolras for the first time. Words was that was deliberate. Not heard much about the recasting in June but maybe it was just some casting bug that got in his head?
Any motivation that casts Norm as Javert is okay by me though

I was so taken with Josh Young...and his performance, when I saw him several years ago. He was phenomenal.
Josh was in the tour in 2004. That's "several"?
He was so cheezy.
If they wanted an Asian Marius, I can think of a good one... *cough*JoseLlana*cough*.

Posted: 5/21/06 at 7:07pmI think they looked at three guys- one being Daniel Bogart from the tour, a CMU MT grad and the guy they picked. Too bad they just picked another tour guy. Let's bring some fresh blood to Les Mis!

Well, Adam wasn't a promoted understudy. In the Les Miz world, sometimes trasnferring from another company is about as fresh as you're gonna get.

Posted: 8/25/08 at 9:31pmThanks for sharing that! I'm a huge fan of Adam Jacobs and he was an awesome Marius. Just saw his fellow cast member Anderson Davis in the role of Marius in the Theater of the Stars production at West Point this weekend and I was also blown away by this talented young man! He did an amazing job! I expected to be wowed by Nikki Rene Daniels and Rob Hunt and I was not disappointed (they both were outstanding!), but I had no idea Anderson was such an incredible talent!
p.s.

I loved the chemistry binding the performances of Adam Jacobs and Ali Ewoldt.

ditto to all of that! I saw the show at Ike Hall on Sunday, and I'm thrilled that I had the opportunity after the show to tell Anderson how amazing he was/is as Marius.
p.s. Some of his specific mannerisms and movements reminded me of Adam.
pps [off topic? but then again every posting on this thread less than two years old is off topic] Kylie and Carly look so grown up now.
