Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

This is a thread that's meant to be fun and no negative comments. It's a thread where you get to say who you would want to be apart of a film version of Jersey Boys. To me, there are of course two options with the cast, one could be the have JLY, Daniel, Christian, and Bobby play The Four Seasons, the other would be to have bigger names in those roles. Me personally I would like to see JLY, Daniel, Christian, and Bobby preserve their roles by doing the film and then in the other roles have some big names in it and also some cameos from Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy Devito, Bob Crewe, and Joe Pesci. They could do one of the roles that are done by Donnie Kehr and Mark Lotito.

For some of the other roles I see maybe Zach Braff(JD on Scrubs) as Joe Pesci(which I think would be cool seeing that Braff is a Jersey Boy), Reese Witherspoon as Mary, and Robert Patrick as Norm Waxman, and maybe Jack Nicholson for Gyp DeCarlo(again another guy from Jersey).

I can't think of anything else right now, but if I do I'll post them.

So who would you pick to be in the movie?

I don't think there's a famous singer out there that can hit a high E like John can. I think they would definetely stick with John, and I hope that they would keep the other originals intact. I feel like they could find guys that could do the other 3 parts, but I can't think of anyone who can sing Frankie. I can't really see Reese as Mary. I could see someone more like Marisa Tomei, or another woman who looks more Italian.

For the boys, my mom seems to think Christian looks like Mark Wahlberg, and for some reason, I could see Mark playing Tommy.

Everyone from the Original Broadway Cast,I think it would be cool to even see the girls(Erica,Jen and Sara)and I can't see anyone else play Joe Pesci like Micheal Longoria.

There should be cameos by the original (living) Four Seasons!
Either that or they could be the narrators instead of the characters.

It has to be the original cast, at least for the 4 leads. And I agree someone like Marisa Tomei for the part of Mary. I also like Jamie Lyn Sigler but she may be too young looking for the part.

I would love the guys and the Seasons to be in it. I would love for Marisa to play Mary. Even though she is a little bit older than John. I think my sisters friend should play Joey because he looks like Joe, acts like him ,and talks like him! But if they can't get the girls to be in it, I was thinking Emmy Rossum or Anne Hathaway to play Francine. They both have the Valli look, brown eyes, blackish brown hair. But, I can't think of someone to play Lorraine.

Except, of course, for the REAL Frankie Valli.

It doesn't HAVE to be anything. If this is a feature film...a director will probably audition the original cast but has no commitment to cast them. They'll lean towards big names in order to sell the flick. And there's nothing saying the actor chosen has to sing the songs. There's such thing as lip-synching (ie: Jamie Foxx in "Ray").

It' just too bad that Jack Palance isn't alive cause he would probably would've made a great Gyp DeCarlo.

I think honestly like I said before, it should be the original 4- John, Daniel, Christan, and Bobby- with big names in the other roles.

"I can't see anyone else play Joe Pesci like Micheal Longoria."

True, but I think Zach Braff could do a great job playing him in a film version.

What about Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Pesci?

AlmostXFamous, I totally think Christian looks like Mark Wahlburg! He's such a nice guy, I hope they give it to him.

Well being a Jersey Boy fan
I just had to give my 2 cents
here. I think they should defintely
stick the four John,Christian,Daniel,Bobby.
Origninal cast for 4 Seasons.

Michael Longoria would be
fabulous as Joey.
As for the females, I would
love Marissa to play Francine.
But how great it would be if
they stuck to the original cast
and gave it to Jennifer Naimo
to play Francine.

Time will tell.

I'm thinking about that Racheal McAdams to play Lorraine. She had red hair once so.............

re: Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

Every one except FOAnatic seems to be hung up on the idea that the original actors *must* star in the movie. True that's one approach. But film acting isn't the same as stage acting. And as FOAnatic says a studio is likely to want to have some bankable movie stars.

A movie version ought to catch the essential appeal of the musical but probably be completely rewritten to exploit film technique not stage technique. The soundtrack would probably want to use digitally enhanced versions of the original 4 Seasons tracks. Don't get me wrong - I love the original Broadway cast and the OBC CD, but when it comes to the movie, you've got to have the magic of the original Frankie Valli recordings

Can we have some suggestions of which Hollywood actors might be suitable for the lead roles?

re: Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

You're welcome FOAnatic. Any suggestions for a good male lead who can cover 16 to 60? I confess I'm not up to speed on Hollywood, but some one here ought to be.

re: Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

ok, I didnt have a suggestion but im kinda bored so I took a picture of Frankie Valli and put it through the face recognition software of myheritage.com and these were some of the top results:

Gerard Butler
Jim Carrey
Johnny Depp
Jake Gyllenhaal

I could actually see Jake Gyllenhaal doing it, if he can pull off Jersey Italian.

Jake is too tall for Frankie. Zach is too tall for Joey. And besides, movies suck. Let the show be the show and leave it be.

Hate to tell ya, Foster. But directors are already seeking the rights to the movie adaptation.

re: Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

FOAnatic, have you ever heard of actors in a film wearing make up to make them look older if it is a time spand of 40 or so years? So if they cast the 4 originals they can always make them look older. Like Patrick Wilson in POTO.

re: Who Would You Want in a Film Version of Jersey Boys?

FOAnatic, I have no doubt that the rights are about to be snatched up by Chris Columbus and the gang. I was just making a statement that movies suck and that the show should be the show and it should be let be.
