I heard she was in talks to play Peron's Mistress.
ELENA ROGER DOES NOT HAVE AN "S" AT THE END OF HER LAST NAME.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS?!
If we set the deadline for opening night of Evita, I'm going to say 22. How much is it to enter the pool?
Isn't Elena Roger already set to play the role. Like Michael Bennett wrote she's already attached to the project.

I saw Julia Murney as Evita. Did not like her. It was a bad night for her.

Do most, all, or any Evita productions in the past, have standbys for Evita?

Im not sure if Pattie LuPone hade one or two standbys. Nancy Opel was one
Nancy Opel was the only understudy when the show first opened, but there was also Terri Klausner, the alternate Eva.
Speaking of Terri Klausner, why was she never made the "main" Eva? Had she left the show by the time that would be an option?
If it wasn't for the fact that Roger has already been cast, and she now has a TV contract, Lea Michele would be a wise one to consider.
Or are we just waiting for a revival of Funny Girl? :P

I, for one, would love to see Idina Menzel do it.
(ducks for cover)
No, but seriously. There's a video of her singing "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" in London on that site, and it's FANTASTIC.
I would love to see Christiane Noll, Sutton Foster, or Idina Menzel (if she still has the chops) do it.
