I think Alice Ripley can do it! If she can pull off being by polar every night she can definatly pull off Evita!
Um gonna go out on a limb here and say Queen Latifah has a better chance of playing Eva than Ripley does.
And isn't Elena in talks to come over?

Here's to LEA SALONGA as Evita!
Last I heard, Elena Rogers is in talks.
Personally, I think anyone who could belt the score and who could be a bigger box office draw (Sara Ramirez, maybe?) would be a more inspiring choice.
Elena Rogers is more than in talks - the project was announced with her name attached.
The best you can do is speculate who her alternate will be - just keep in mind this production is very dance heavy. Leslie Kritzer probably couldn't cut it.
Too bad there aren't danceovers like they do voiceovers in movies. Leslie has the voice for it. I'd love to see Julia Murney as Eva again. She was fantastic in Sacramento.
I've heard Orfeh sing Eva in an interview before, and I would give my first born to prevent that from happening.
And I don't know if you've been to Next to Normal lately but, God love her, Alice doesn't have a voice anymore. She could not handle Eva right now.
Isn't Ripley like 20 years too old for the role anyway?
ELENA ROGER DOES NOT HAVE AN "S" AT THE END OF HER LAST NAME.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS?!
What about the chick that used get painted green every night?
Who will play Evita in this revival? To paraphrase J.K. Rowling, "You will. There! Is that what you wanted to hear?"

Ok, seriously though, Karen Olivo? Yes? No?
I say no.
Keep saying Elena Rogers because Lizzie looks pretty when she's angry.
Cheeky!
Jan Maxwell!
She'll put the Tony in her bag.
I doubt Tony winner Karen Olivo would take a job as an alternate.
Though anyone would love to be Olivo's alternate. Guaranteed stage time right there.
Bad joke, bad joke. Here's wishing her a speedy recovery, and an originating role post-WSS.
After hearing Many Gonzalez sing Rainbow High, I'd love to hear her do that score.

Is this revival even happening?? Rob Ashford seems to be pretty busy next season. With How to Succeed in the spring...are we to assume the Evita revival to start previews in the fall?? I hope this revival happens...
...is Rob Ashford set to direct?

Set to direct what? Evita? If they are transferring the London production, as announced from Playbill then yes - or I assume...I also read in that same article that Elena Roger is planning on reprising...
