That doesn't add up to "deserves," those are all subjective points of view. "Deserves" implies that objective criteria lead to no other conclusion.

How about the fact Felicia's been to Hell and Back with her relationship with Marc? Felicia deserves some happiness. A lead role in Little Shop plus a recording would be great for her.

So you mean she "deserves" to be cast in a professional gig because she has had relationship troubles? Is that a column on audition sheets? Granted, I've never heard of an actor having troubles in his or her personal life... so maybe you're right.

Both actresses would equally bring a different perception to the role, but Kerry's had her time to shine in Hairspray. You've all said it yourself. She took a small role and turned it recognizable. Felicia hasn't had a chance to shine like that. Maybe she should...
There is no 'should.' This is not little league where every kid who signs up should get to play.
Why are people acting like Kerry's some grizzled veteran who' done it all? She's created one role in a Broadway show and got a great deal of acclaim that went far above what the character seems to be on paper. Before that she had done some work as a replacement cast member in some of the warhorses and created a role in an off-Broadway show, pretty similar to Finley's career at this point who has done 'Aida,' 'The Last Five Years' and 'The Life.' They're BOTH up and comers on the brink of becoming bigger stars. But there can only be one Audrey.
Is the point of this thread to actually let people discuss what they feel or just to let 'LilFinley' repeatedley say 'I want Finley to get it because she would be great' until they're blue in the face?
No one's insulting Felicia, just some people want to see Kerry in the role -- just as others want to see Felicia. But turning the whole thing into some impish blathering about who 'should' or who 'deserves' something is a waste of everyone's time and thought.

Ummmm Felicia has never been in the Last Five Years! That was Sherie! Yea if you are goin to say something, get your facts straight first! Your're right, it doesnt matter that she has had some realationship trouble!
From a performance standpoint Felicia is more suited for the role! That is all I am saying!
Broadway Legend Joined: 5/18/03
Who is more suited to the role?
That can not be used as a fact. Who is better suited is totally subjective. One director could think a person was born to play the role, another director woud laugh if you mentioned the same person for the same role.
btw,
Last5Yrs, I LOVE the pic of Barrett. Isn't he just adorable? You just wanna pinch those cheeks! (at both ends)
"Ummmm Felicia has never been in the Last Five Years! That was Sherie!"
Oops. My error.
"Yea if you are goin to say something, get your facts straight first!"
I'll keep that in mind.
"Your're right, it doesnt matter that she has had some realationship trouble!"
While I would certainly agree with that statement, I didn't actually mention anyone's relationship troubles in any of my posts. I refer you to your above point about 'getting facts straight first.'
"From a performance standpoint Felicia is more suited for the role! That is all I am saying! "
And you've said it five times now. We've got it.

Felicia Finley was never in The Last Five Years. That was Lauren Kennedy (Illinois) and Sherie Rene Scott (New York), but I can understand the mix up considering their all skinny blondes.
John Popa, no one else is complaining about LilFinley's posts except you. No one cares if she repeats her ideas. Just let it go
Kerry is going to have to choose between The Little Mermaid and Little Shop. If I was her, I'd choose The Little Mermaid. I mean, it's Disney! lol. Her publicity and the trimmings that go along with a Disney Broadway Show are there.
BwayGuy2, yes those pale beautiful dimples. I would love to pinch, but I'd rather have his big strong arms wrapped around me! hehehehe (tries not to think dirty thoughts, im a good catholic boy, im a good catholic boy)

"Kerry is going to have to choose between The Little Mermaid and Little Shop."
No. 'Little Mermaid' isn't being readied for this season. Disney has said it would be most likely 2005.
Sorry, I foolishly imagine there will be a sensible level of discourse on message boards. My bad, as they say.
So I guess to keep my thoughts on the accepted level: 'I want Kerry to play Audrey because she'd be nifty swell and I gosh-golly really like her and she'd be awesome and I know she could do it and I know a lot about Audrey too and so I think it should be Kerry.'
Don't worry, I'll repeat it in two or three more posts, too.

Whatever floats your boat
When did Disney say this? I want a link. 5 different people who work at Aida told me their preparing the Palace Theater for The Little Mermaid to come in June.

Barrett?? big and strong?? are we talking about the same Barrett?? he isn't exactly tiny, but big and strong?? Flamey and slightly on the verge of nelly at times, yeah. Big and strong not so much.

Alright! Not big. But strong. Look at my picture! Those sleeves are about to bust! His arms are lethal weapons! ow ow
When? June of 2004? I think we would have heard more along the lines of development. Where will Aida go?

Aida has been funning for some years and has still not made back it's investment. There is talk of Aida closing when Toni bows out.
I have heard that th EARLIEST it would come in is June 2004. Heard more?? Why? I am sure Disney is trying to keep most details underwraps -- they did keep the reading closed.
As for Barrett, I love that pic of him! Oh, to be that stuffed toy for five minutes. I wonder if Barrett is seeing anyone now......

From what I hear, Aida only haD 20% of it's seats filled, but Toni might have highered that percentage. Toni's going to be the last Aida. She's trying to get a DVD going because Disney said "we want to go out with a bang".

Aida isnt closing! They are moving it to another house! A smaller one! Disney isnt going to close it just yet!

They're preparing The Palace for The Little Mermaid next June? What are they going, pasting starfish to the walls while Aida is still up?
Little Mermaid is not listed at all in upcoming shows on Playbill.com, not even in the 2005 projections.
JohnPopa, I am right with you, man. I mean, I totally bet you that at some point Kerry has had a bad relationship and therefore that puts her on a totally even (Little League) playing field with Felicia! So she deserves it more! She DESERVES it more!
AIDA's grosses according to Playbill range from 70% attendance to 85% over the past 6 months (and it's been up the past couple weeks as most every other show has been.) But the rumor is that the show costs too much to run and is still in the red. I'm not sure where you'd be getting a number as low as 20%, though.

Just because there hasn't been a formal announcement doesn't mean that Aida won't close and mermaid won't open.

In June 2004? From the company that brings you movie previews 18 months in advance?

Disney has had the details for Mermaid under tight wraps for a while now.
I wonder how they will handle all of the swimming in the underwater scenes. It'll be hard to get it right.

As a long time Felicia fan and friend, I think she'd be amazing as Audrey, Kerry while another favorite doesn't quite have the needed air of heartbreaking failure in the role, I'd love t ohear her sing the stuff, look I'm more upset they are keeping Hunter, and YES, I saw the show in Florida and he was one of the problems, why they booted Alice when she was the main problem is beyonnd me, and it's nice to be back!
All this talk about AIDA closing makes me think that the powers-that-be should close the tired old BEAUTY & THE BEAST instead. It's been running longer and overall is a far weaker production.

For the swimming scenes, wouldn't they do something like in Aida with the swimming pool? How are they going to make Ariel look like a real mermaid without making her fins look fake like something out of the MGM show?
