Who do you think the Tony nominees for Best Costumes will be?

I did see the show; I can judge.
You're telling me first that people ONLY go see a show for it's costumes, then you're telling me that people just "have interest in" them. Then, you must be saying that people should love Brooklyn because of the fact that some people only see costumes when they see theatre, and you're using this idea to defend why Brooklyn should get the nod.
It took me more effort than it's worth just to sit here and synthesize what in all HELL you're trying to say.
Forget it. I'm not having this discussion with you - you don't even make any sense. Not even worth it to try.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 8:45pmI find it sort of childish, for he is throwing a NO! NO! IM NOT LISTENING TO YOU! LA LA LA LA sort of fit. I havn't said the work Brooklyn in my last post, yet he seems to think this is what it is all about.

True, but what Margo said, and I agree, is that the Theatre Critics and award voters cleary don't like Brooklyn or its costumes. Its lack of nominations in the other awards ceremonies (Outer Critics and Drama Desk) shows that.

I'm still here, honey. I'm not a he, and I'm not throwing a fit. I'm telling you that your nonsensical arguments aren't worth the very little bit of energy I have right now. Case in point - if I was throwing an "I'm not listening" fit, I'd sit her and say over and over again that Brooklyn is horrid, and nothing else, making just as shallow points as well, you.
Tobin really did out do himself by making the amazing costumes in Bklyn. No mater what you think of the show whenever I show non theatre and theatre people a pic of the Duct Tape dress, they all love it.
Oh, excuse me. It wasn't in your last post, so it must have disappeared.
aaand obviously I lied, since you decided you need to have the last word.

Obviously I'm a huge fan of plaid, darce.
Look, okay. Brooklyn's costumes are elaborate, expensive, and yes, perhaps even lavish. But the reason that this philosophy of only looking at the quality or whatever of a show's costumes is totally inane is because the costuming doesn't do anything to forward the premise of the show. It just makes Brooklyn even more of a confused mess. The show just can't decide what it wants to be, and the costumes scream that fact. If they were really homeless street performers, the costumes they'd be using in their plays would YES, have those elements like trash bags and random bits of clothing, but they wouldn't be so elaborate. It just doesn't make any sense. Theatre is all about fitting the pieces of a puzzle together. Things have to match up, make sense together and compliment each other. Aside from being purely obnoxious and distracting, IMO, Brooklyn's costumes kill the coherency between its elements.
There, I explained myself. I hope that suits you, emo_geek.

I'm just loosening the bark to help the tree grow faster. It's more productive than the argument I want to have.
I'm still not sure what emo_geek is even talking about. I agree with Margo, no theatre person is that likely to want Bklyn to be able to say it got ANY award nominations.
