re: Who do you think the Tony nominees for Best Costumes will be?

Piazza, Chitty, Spamalot, and Brookyln (as a token kind of nom)
Interestingly I'm only really wild about the Piazza costumes, and would probably give Pacific Overtures, La Cage, or DRS the other three spots, but I kind of feel the Tony committee will go this route.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I don't know what it was that drew me to them BobbyBubby, maybe just my love for the show? But the please hello costumes were a highlight to me, something both terifying and intriguing, like I feel all of the "invaders" would have seemed.
Mainly I found them interesting while many of the better recieved costumes left me flat.

I actually thought of throwing Dracula in as a sleeper, but I don't think the Tony nominators are going to want to remind anyone of that show.
I'm rooting for Piazza to win.

The costumes in Brooklyn are so inovative. They will most definitely get a nod, as well as Spamalot.
I wouldn't be surprised if Little Women was nominated. Very colonial and all.

Tobin really did out do himself by making the amazing costumes in Bklyn. No mater what you think of the show whenever I show non theatre and theatre people a pic of the Duct Tape dress, they all love it.

if brooklyn is to get a nomination it will probably be for costumes (it's not saying much about your show when the costumes are the best thing!).. i would say piazza, brooklyn, la cage and maybe little women will get the nods? i don't care about the last one, it could be spam or chitty if they're good.

There are only four slots for Costume Design. My guesses:

Spamalot
Light in the Piazza
La Cage
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

I doubt Brooklyn will be nominated for this category or anything else. Notice that the costumes failed to get a nod from either the Outer Critics Circle (which has 5 nominees per category) or the Drama Desks (despite 6 nominees per category). Matter of fact, Brooklyn didn't get nominated for ANYTHING from either. Face it, most critics and theatre professionals really hated the show and would rather nominate any one of the better-received shows that opened this season (pretty much every show other than Dracula) than give even one nomination to Brooklyn.

Not true about the costume part. People enjoy theatre for many resons. Some for the set, others for the costume, some for the acting/singing, still otheres for the story. For any show to have exceptionally good costumes just adds to the theatre experience that people go to live theatre for.

People go to the theatre just for the costumes?

What happened to the whole picture? A cohesive experience?

others enjoy all of it. I know a couple of people who have paid full price to see a show because they were interested in the certin time piece it took place in and saw some of the costumes and wanted to see more.
