Anybody else getting excited for BLITHE SPIRIT, in particular Rupert Everett?
I think he's going to be really wonderful in that part...I reread the play not too long ago and was so easily able to picture him.
Plus, he and Christine Ebersole will probably be hilarious together.
I'm excited about the whole production!
But to answer your question, yes, I can't wait to see Rupert onstage.
I am Totally gigged to see Rupies onstage!
I'm looking forward to seeing him on stage again.
About twenty years ago, I saw him in THE VORTEX, another Coward play. I remember being REALLY impressed and over the years have wondered why he didn't so more stage work.

Yeah, I was surprised that he hadn't done any Broadway before.
I loved him in Midsummer Night's Dream.
ME ME ME ME! Rupert can do no wrong in my eyes!...
Ok .... except for that blah movie with Madonna.

I can not wait to see this production, though I am way more excited for some Ebersole-Lansbury than Everett. That being said, this production can more or less do no wrong in my eyes. It's one of my favorite plays being revived with a stellar cast. Can. Not. Wait.

NO. I am not excited to see him!
I am excited to see Miss Ebersole and Miss Lansbury. He might be a good actor and he has his opinion..so do I!

Rupert Everett says he is against gay men adopting.
The openly homosexual actor doesn't believe two men would make good parents, because he believes it could have negative implications for the child.

He's a really great actor. I hope to make it.
And he has something wonderful to say about us and 9/11: "The reaction to 9/11 and then George Bush - really, they've got very blobby as a nation. ... Now they are whiny victims whose language is entirely taken from two TV shows - Friends and Sex And The City - and there's nothing sexy about them any more."
Why is he back here?!

Personally, my language comes from Third Rock From the Sun.
What is an HIV blabber?
let me just add this...
Will I see the play? YES because I love theater!
Am I excited to see him? HELL TO THE NO!
I think that he NEEDS to think before he opens that useless mouth of his! It's just because he is a self-absorbed, selfish bastard DOES NOT necessarily means ALL gay people wont be good parents...
He is quoted by Britain's Daily Express newspaper as saying: "Oh God, I could never do that to a child. Can you imagine what it would be like, having your two dads coming to school speech days? And hearing those awful queeny rows while you are trying to get to sleep?"
The 48-year-old star recently revealed how he had ruled out ever having children - because he would be a terrible father.
There's a lot of SELFLESS gay & lesbian parents out there that would be a PERFECT parents for hundreds of abandoned children in America. His comments lately on social issues such as gay marriage and gay adoption makes me flabbergasted on how one "has been actor" become soo INSENSITIVE and BITTER in his life. I used to like him until I read some his stand on social issues example ...he states on London's Daily Express that he's actually "old-fashioned" about some social positions and suggests it is "not a good idea" for gay men to adopt children.
NO.. I DO NOT ADMIRE and I dont give a f*** whether he is on the play or not! I could care less~and that's just my opinion!

Sheesh.
I'm a huge Woody Allen fan. I think he's incredibly brilliant, and despite all the issues he's had over the years, I still think he's brilliant and will always be a supporter of his work...I am able to separate the artist from the troubled person.
Too bad that he's gotten so bitter all these years because he wasn't able to have a career like Hugh Grant or other British actors. I can understand his frustration on Hollywood.. but STILL its NOT an excuse for him to cut down on gay people's right! It's JUST WRONG! Of all people should know how is it to be treated NOT AS EQUAL!

Don't expect Rupert Everett to sign autographs after the show.
He has the reputation of being quite bitchy to those who've worked with him.
Thanks Dollypop!
I would NOT approach him on the first place neither for his autograph! No but thanks. I got more important thing to do than line up for his autograph like catch my bus back so I could be home early!

Jaystarr, I believe he wrote that HE would never adopt a child...
Oh. He is entitled to his opinion like everyone else...I just dont agree with his opinion and that does make him a lesser actor in my eyes. I just dont like what he says and I am just not excited to see him! that's all...
Openly-homo actor Rupert Everett doesn't want kids and he also doesn't think gay dudes should have kids either.
He doesn't think kids should go through the embarassment of having two dads.
I just wanna clarify that and like Flyingmonkey..I am just answering and question and explaining as to why I dont like him because I think he should think twice before he opens his mouth!

I think the line between a person as a human being and an individual as an actor/performer is getting blurred here. I'll go out on a limb and cite an specific example from my own experience. Marc Kudish, in addition to being very rude to me personally (and I'm not talking about getting an autograph)has made some offensive remarks regarding sexuality. Translate: I don't like the guy from what I know of him as a person. However, I've seen Marc Kudish do some fine work in the theatre. Translate: I like his work. Rupert Everett may be the nastiest person in the world, for all I know (and I don't). But if he gives a good performance in Blithe Spirit, I will not allow my personal feelings about him influence my opinion of him as an actor in Blithe Spirit. Now, if he gives what I view as an unsatisfactory performance, then that might deter me from seeing him again. If what he has said or done publicly is so offensive to you that you cannot bear to see him in the theatre, that is certainly your prerogative. As I said, I have no preconceived notions about Everett one way or the other.
