Who loves Shirley Q?!

I Love me some Shirley Q Liquor!

Hit me back with ur fave Shirley Quotes.

My personal fave is:

"I'm so tired of everything at McDonalds. Im so tired of pullin them 2 hot nasty pickles off and throwin em out the window. I dont care for em served hot. But do they ask my prefrences? NO."
Yes that's me. No, it's not a Rent homage.

Brava Shirley.

Miss Liquor is a freaking goddess. I've seen her live six times...we WORSHIPPED her in San Francisco. She's not quite as big here in New York, sadly.

"Me 'n'dat perpendicular headed lady gon' go after it..."

Tell your mama'n'em I axed her how she durrin.
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

re: Who loves Shirley Q?!

oh my.
Well, yeah, Shirley Q. is from my neck o' the woods. I have friends who know her.
And, while most of her act is definitely stand-up, there's little doubt in my mind she was inspired by Pearly Tolliver, a charming cafeteria lady at my college who, on weekends, hosted a gospel program that was 1 part bad gospel music (seriously, bad stuff) and 4 parts Pearly doing radio ads. It was drop-dead hysterical.
"This pertion of the program is where Pearly stops and makes her some munny. Pearly be running shert on the munny."

re: Who loves Shirley Q?!

I used to have a cassette of several of Pearly's radio shows. I'm not certain SHirley is completely created from Pearly but there is a connection for sure.
I never ate in the cafeteria where Pearly worked (because it was crappy food) unless I could see PEarly working the line. She would say the craziest things...one of her favorite phrases was, "check it out and...lock, lock it down."

Looking for the cost of the Greyhound bus for her 19 chisruns and Watusi Jenkins

When she talks about examining her brefases and she thought she was smuggling M & M's....(when she felt her fibernoids)

oh my god! I forgot that the very first time I ever heard Shirley was the phone call to the Greyhound! She was going to...oh, crap, some little town around me (winnfield) to Orange. errinj, as she said it.

re: Who loves Shirley Q?!

that was my first Shirly bit too -- I just about peed my pants when she was pricing the tickets and after learning child fares start at 11 she say "Oh they all under 11"

Now which of the chilruns names is your favorite?
