Well, Jennifer Hudson is too young for Jewel, so it would actually make more sense to have a Mona that is young too.

It's a concert. Age doesn't matter. In the past the Actors' Fund had a 50-year-old Lillias White playing Effie, and nobody seemed to mind. As long as Skinner can hit the notes (and I have no doubt that she can), her age doesn't matter in this scenario.

Skinner would sing the part beautifully. And I agree for a concert, it doesn't really matter how old the performers are.

But I would just be bit surprised they didn't snag a more of a "box office draw" for this leading role. But if it goes to Emily, I'm sure she'll be terrific.
