Who's ready for a revival of CATS?

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:25amAs much as I love cats, it really is too soon. They have to wait until most people who got to see the original are dead, or by that time too told to remember because it's so hard to recreate something that distinct and amazing and make it much different. But trust me - I ADORE Cats.

Rosalynn -
Please change your icon. The gorgeousness of him keeps getting me excited that he's responding to my message. But then I forget - it's hugh, not anyone on here. It's wildly distracting

Posted: 11/5/04 at 1:04amBut some people (like me) missed the original CATS...so I'd like to see it redone just to say "I saw cats on broadway".

Posted: 11/5/04 at 1:20amIt's waaaay too soon. Wait 15 years, then talk to me. Actually, 35 might be more realistic. Guys, even shows that ran for only 2 or so years have to wait 10+ years to be revived.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 1:32amI refuse to believe that this is a serious inquiry, and accept it only as another Bronx attempt to stir the sh*t, however boring it may be for everyone else. Updated On: 11/5/04 at 01:32 AM

On Broadway? No frigging way. It was overproduced the first time around and inspired a whole line of overdone, halfbaked shows.
You want to revive it? Take it off-Broadway, into a smaller house, where the material can stand on its own merits as opposed to being all dressed up with really nowhere to go.
But either way, it's too soon. The damn thing just closed. Let it rest in peace for a while, okay?

Ouch, ooh, what a situation

re: Who's ready for a revival of CATS?#20
Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:42pmI believe the hard and fast rule is a show cannot be revived until the number of years have passed equal to the number of years the show ran, x15.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:46pmWell, if it isn't, it should be. Cats not being let back on stage until 2304 suits me fine. I can't believe they actually want to bring the UK tour back in to London's West End NEXT YEAR though.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:47pmPlease. You people let STARLIGHT EXPRESS run for 45 years. This is to be expected.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:49pmOnly if they include a new ending where all the cats cheerfully drink some spilled anti-freeze.
